SHEET METAL SPECIALIST HQ Aero is currently recruiting for SHEET METAL SPECIALISTS in MIDDLETOWN, DE Job Summary: The Sheet Metal Specialist is responsible for part marking, materials prep, and satin finish operations to fabricate parts and performing repairs within prescribed cycle-time/budgeted time and the customer's standards of quality. You will report to the Production Supervisor. Responsibilities: As a Sheet Metal Specialist, you are qualified to: Perform work as assigned utilizing routine and/or non-routine work cards and/or service bulletins. โ€ข Perform typical sheet metal fabrication shop operations. โ€ข Identify metals used for sheet metal fabrication. โ€ข Hole preparation for fasteners. โ€ข Understand characteristics of metals used in sheet metal parts fabrication. โ€ข Develop basic understanding of blueprints and drawings. โ€ข Develop layout for parts fabrication. โ€ข Calculate shop mathematics to bend and cut sheet metal. โ€ข Basic hand forming of metal parts. โ€ข Install and remove fasteners. โ€ข Safely operate all appropriate hand tools and other machinery associated with the SM shop. โ€ข Assist with performance of maintenance and/or repairs as appropriate. โ€ข Follow proper paperwork and documentation procedures. โ€ข Comply with safety and company policies and use protective equipment as required. Qualifications, Experience & Requirements: MINIMUM: โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent โ€ข Basic computer skills โ€ข One (1) year shop experience in similar environment โ€ข Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English โ€ข Must be able to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, etc. โ€ข Skilled in use of hand tools such as drill motors, screw gun, die grinder and routers โ€ข Ability to work independently and follow through on large assignments to completion โ€ข Ability to plan and foresee problems, identify alternative solutions and taking actions to limit bottlenecks PREFERRED: โ€ข Two (2) years shop experience in similar environment โ€ข Ability to organize and plan with little or no supervision on large assignments. โ€ข Proficient in reading and understanding of blueprints and drawings โ€ข Ability to do microshaving and counterboring of sheet metal and fittings to assemblies โ€ข Experience with design and fabricate molds and form blocks to form metal parts to meet engineering blueprints and requirements โ€ข Proficient in forming complex shapes and parts to meet engineering specifications PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: โ€ข May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. โ€ข Subject to continual loud noises โ€ข Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, stand for prolonged periods of time; climb steps, ladders and/or service stands โ€ข Must be able to safely work around hazardous chemicals, solvents, resins and adhesives DISCLAIMER This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected by the successful applicant.
