Job description

ABOUT US

METYCLE - where innovation meets sustainability We are building the B2B online platform to accelerate the global circular flow of secondary metals. By connecting buyers and sellers of scrap metal globally, we enable efficient trade of secondary metals and drive the seamless flow of recycling material, essential for reducing CO2 emissions by up to 95% compared to primary metal production. And we take it further! We are pioneering an innovative Smart Sorting Facility that leverages AI, machine learning, and robotics to transform how scrap metal is processed, enhance material quality, improve traceability, and drive the recycling industry into the digital era. Join us at the early stage in bringing the $610 billion scrap metal trading industry into the 21st century and in shaping the future of metal recycling and green energy solutions.

READY TO MAKE AN IMPACT?

If you are passionate about owning the operational backbone of a fast-growing commodities business, join our team as Head of Trading Execution & Operations! You will operate at the centre of the business, working directly with traders, finance, suppliers, customers, shipping providers, and inspectors to ensure deals move smoothly across international markets.

YOUR MISSION

Own the full execution of physical and derivative hedging (metal & FX) for the non-ferrous base metals Metycle trades. You'll build the execution model (pricing, hedging, invoicing, cost management), the risk control and reporting framework, and the team that scales it - protecting trading P&L on every transaction and safeguarding trading-related cash flows.

Reporting into the business and partnering with the trading desk, finance, risk, brokers, trade-finance banks and logistics providers, you'll also drive the rollout of our internal CTRM.

  • Team & culture: Lead, mentor and grow the operations team - hiring, performance and development - and embed a proactive risk-and-control culture and operating cadence that keeps execution reliable as volumes scale
  • Processes, SOPs & controls: Design and own the full SOP library and control framework - auditable workflows with clear RACI, segregation of duties and four-eyes checks - plus the KPI/dashboard layer, all embedded in the CTRM and audit-ready for lenders
  • The full physical deal lifecycle: Every trade from pre-transaction (bid/offer capture, P&L validation), through in-transaction (contracts, amendments, trigger events, pricing, logistics, invoicing, payments), to post-transaction (MTM, trade matching, Realised and Unrealised P&L)
  • Logistics & shipping: End-to-end movement of cargo across origin, transit, port and destination, daily coordination with suppliers, receivers and service providers, and management of freight-forwarder relationships and concentration risk
  • Documentation & trade compliance: Complete, accurate documentation across the supply chain -customs, sanctions and destination import rules - to the standard lenders and inspectors demand.
  • Pricing & hedging: Live metal and FX exposures, hedge execution with brokers in line with policy, four-eyes hedge capture and reconciliation (open equity, VM/IM, margining, settlement), and exposure reporting (open/priced/hedged/closing risk)
  • Invoicing & settlement: Customer and supplier invoicing from provisional to final, payment scheduling including VAT/duties/customs/CBAM, SOAs, true-ups, credit exposure and cash collection - with no leakage between booked and realized margin
  • Inspection & cargo insurance: The inspection regime across the lifecycle (pre-shipment, load/discharge, sampling/assay, weight/moisture, sealing, scanning) with surveyors like SGS, CCIC and Bureau Veritas, plus the marine cargo insurance program door-to-door
  • Claims: End-to-end claims - quality, weight, moisture, shortages, contamination, demurrage and pricing - run as a managed P&L line, with a playbook driving recovery and reducing leakage
  • Systemization: Partner with the product team to automate the operating model, eliminate manual reconciliation and raise reliability and throughput as the business grows
YOUR PROFILE
  • 7+ years of commodity (ideally metal) trading-execution experience at established trading houses
  • Strong command of fixed/formula pricing, hedging, MTM, month-end close, exposure and P&L/cash-flow monitoring, Incoterms and transport doc
  • Trade-finance instruments: CAD, LCs, inventory financing
  • Results-driven personality with a hands-on mentality and a strong focus on achieving operational KPIs
  • A self-starter who builds teams while keeping an eye for detail; thrives under pressure
  • High English proficiency; keen interest in new tech, including AI-driven automation
  • Willingness to travel (~10โ€“20%)- supplier yards, ports, lender meetings, group offsites
  • Valid work / residence permit for the respective country / EU
WHY JOIN US?
  • You will have the opportunity to challenge the status quo and work on an innovative venture with significant impact
  • You will be able to take ownership and shape the future of metal recycling and green energy solutions at an early stage
  • We offer a competitive salary including virtual company shares
  • We offer an environment with flat hierarchies and a steep learning curve with exciting growth opportunities
  • You will benefit from flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely or from a shared office location
  • We promote an inclusive, diverse and supportive work environment
