Location: Irving, TX
Contract: 6–12 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually, depending on experience
Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking an experienced ICP Analyst for a contract opportunity in Irving, TX. This position is ideal for an analytical laboratory professional with hands-on ICP-OES experience and a strong background in metals analysis. The ICP Analyst will be responsible for sample preparation, instrumental analysis, data review, reporting, equipment maintenance, and quality documentation.
Position Overview
The ICP Analyst will perform copper and silver testing of water samples using Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) instrumentation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate, high-quality laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all stages of sample analysis, including sample receipt and login, preparation, digestion, sequencing, ICP analysis, data review, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP-OES instrumentation and associated laboratory equipment.
  • Accurately enter, review, and maintain analytical data within LIMS and other laboratory databases.
  • Ensure analytical results meet established quality control requirements and laboratory performance standards.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain instrument logbooks, calibration records, maintenance documentation, and laboratory notebooks.
  • Perform and document equipment calibrations according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating SOPs, work instructions, and laboratory documentation.
  • Monitor inventory of laboratory reagents, standards, consumables, and supplies and coordinate ordering as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Follow all laboratory safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support method validation, quality control investigations, and corrective action processes as needed.
  • Troubleshoot analytical procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, supervisors, and other departments to ensure timely completion of analytical testing.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and laboratory experience may be considered.
Experience:
  • At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required.
  • Previous experience operating and maintaining ICP-OES instrumentation required.
  • Experience performing metals analysis in environmental, water, mining, metallurgical, or industrial laboratories preferred.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience through professional employment, internships, or academic laboratory coursework.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory testing practices.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize workload.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality results.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality systems, ISO standards, and quality assurance programs.
  • Experience with instrument calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of environmental water testing methodologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Background in metals analysis, mining, metallurgy, or environmental laboratories.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Laboratory-based position requiring standing and walking for extended periods.
