We're looking for a Metallurgist who is passionate about understanding how materials perform, solving complex manufacturing challenges, and helping drive world-class quality. In this role, you'll serve as a technical expert, partnering with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Sales to ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do
As a Metallurgist at Webco, you'll provide technical leadership and metallurgical expertise across our manufacturing operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting production processes including material selection, heat treatment, forming, welding, and finishing operations.
- Investigating material failures, non-conformances, and customer claims using sound metallurgical and scientific methods.
- Leading root cause analysis efforts and developing effective corrective actions.
- Reviewing and interpreting customer specifications, industry standards, and internal requirements.
- Conducting and overseeing metallurgical testing, including:
- Chemical analysis
- Mechanical testing
- Microstructural evaluation
- Hardness testing
- Preparing clear, concise technical reports and recommendations.
- Supporting new product introductions and process validation activities.
- Collaborating with Engineering to improve manufacturing processes and product performance.
- Assisting Quality with technical dispositions, inspection plans, and control plans.
- Providing technical training and guidance to operations, quality, and commercial teams.
- Supporting supplier qualification and material evaluation activities.
- Driving data-based decision making and continuous improvement initiatives.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of ferrous metals, heat treatment, and metal forming processes.
- Ability to interpret technical standards and customer specifications.
- Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in tube, pipe, or metal forming operations.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ASME, API, or similar industry standards.
- Hands-on experience with metallurgical laboratory equipment and testing methods.
- Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement
