Job description

Responsibilities
The Pressure Vessel Technologist position in Worldwide Engineering & Construction (WWE&C) provides engineering support for Eastman manufacturing facilities worldwide. Projects range from small, fast-paced production requests to large, long-range capital projects and study jobs. This person will support the Capital Program, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, Asset Integrity, and Construction efforts as they pertain to vessels.

  • The Pressure Vessel team will help new hires prepare for and pass the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) certification, including support for the National Board Commission Exam.
  • The Pressure Vessel team utilizes a structured onboarding curriculum to help integrate new hires into this role.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pressure vessel, storage tank and vessel component designs, specifications and calculations using industry standard analysis tools (e.g., Compress, PVElite, AMETank)
  • Provide and review vessel drawing specifications and calculations to support project work and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Support vessel-related specifications, standards, installation permits and repair/alteration documentation
  • Develop and apply a working knowledge of vessel-related codes, including ASME Section I and VIII, TEMA, API and NBIC
  • Partner with process engineering, plant engineering, materials and metallurgical engineering, maintenance, fabrication shops, vessel inspectors, and operations to achieve manufacturing, reliability and maintenance objectives
  • Manage the vessel project cycle from investigation and troubleshooting through design, specification, fabrication oversight, installation and startup support
  • Adhere to Eastman safety and environmental standards, internal engineering procedures and applicable regulatory requirements throughout all phases of vessel work

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Drafting and Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field or at least five years of relevant work experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills, combined with proven hands-on experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with ASME Section I and VIII
  • Familiarity with Nondestructive Examination (NDE) techniques and methods
  • Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software
