Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Metallurgical Technician to join our Carlin Met Lab department. Under the supervision of the metallurgist, the metallurgical technician will carry out all necessary tests for quality control and improvements projects in the processing facilities, including the mill and heap leach. To provide analytical data, monitor and maintain equipment for the metallurgical department to ensure parameters are being met in the processing plant.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Metallurgical Supervisor, the Metallurgical Technician is responsible for the following:

  • Assist in metallurgical studies by executing sampling plans, preparing, and analyzing samples both in a lab and process plant setting 
  • Maintain laboratory and analytical equipment used in the process facility
  • Ordering and stocking of process laboratory supplies
  • Assists in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
  • Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignment
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in metallurgical, laboratory and processing analyses preferred
  • Ability to collect samples, process and accurately report on results required
  • Working ability in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) required
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions required
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing required
