Job description

Job Summary:

The BSP / Embedded Linux Engineer will be responsible for the board-level bring-up, kernel and device tree development, EC interface driver, and hardware integration for the AST2700 platform. This role is critical in bridging hardware and software, ensuring seamless firmware integration and collaboration across teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in embedded Linux development and a passion for hardware-software interfacing.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the bring-up of embedded Linux BSP, including kernel configuration and device tree authoring for ARM SoCs, with a focus on ASPEED AST2700.
  • Develop and debug low-level bus drivers (I2C, SPI, eSPI) essential for EC interface bring-up.
  • Contribute to Yocto/OpenEmbedded by authoring meta-layer recipes, machine configurations, and kernel bbappend files for ASPEED targets.
  • Integrate firmware components, including Root of Trust, signing chain, and BIOS SPI flash management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clean handoff of build artifacts and provide necessary hardware context for security reviews.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Proven experience in embedded Linux BSP development, specifically in board bring-up, kernel configuration, and device tree authoring for ARM SoCs, preferably ASPEED AST2700.
  • Strong skills in low-level bus driver development, particularly I2C and SPI, with a focus on debugging and protocol confirmation.
  • Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded, including the ability to create and modify meta-layer recipes and configurations.
  • Experience with firmware integration processes, including Root of Trust and BIOS management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, ensuring effective communication and context sharing.
  • Experience with BMC tools is a deal-breaker for this role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ASPEED AST2500/AST2700 SoC platforms.
  • History of contributing to OpenBMC or integrating phosphor services.
  • Knowledge of U-Boot bootloader configuration and secure boot chain integration.
  • Experience with Linux kernel CVE triage and patch backport workflows.
  • Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers for bus protocol debugging.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Equivalent practical experience will be considered for candidates with extensive embedded Linux BSP development experience.
