Job description

Our structured training program is designed to equip with the essential skills and knowledge needed for success as a Tech Designer and provide additional advancement opportunities within the company.

Summary: Merlin Industries’ Design department is seeking an individual with a strong AutoCAD background and 3D design experience. Responsibilities include creating blueprints for manufacturing according to company standards and design rules.

**Knowledge of Visual Basic and Lisps is a plus but not required

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a working knowledge of all our materials, product lines and processes.
  2. Analyze and make a decision on best design considering outside conditions, material and special features (waterfalls, slides, etc.).
  3. Design any product of any complexity according to rules and guidelines we have set.
  4. Fix any drawing given by checkers if corrections needed.
  5. Make DXF’s for the cutting machines and CAD drawings to instruct manufacturing how to make orders for all product lines.
  6. Coordinate and collaborate with our manufacturing team on complex designs
  7. Manage time effectively to meet design team targets and customer promise dates.
  8. Be an integral part of the Design team by going above and beyond regular day-to-day tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in developing new procedures, products, and treatments
  2. Advance skills to provide on-the-job training to new staff.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  1. Proficiency in math and analytical thinking.
  2. Working knowledge of CAD tools is essential.
  3. Very good 3D comprehension and experience in modeling or designing
  4. Ability to work well with others and as part of a high-functioning team.
  5. Decision making and problem solving

Education requirements:

Associate's degree or higher in related field
