Job description

Location: On-site in Santa Rosa, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Merchant Service Sales Officer is responsible for selling bankcard services to merchants and other business professionals. They manage the full sales cycle of all Merchant Services products by working with credit card processing merchant, processor, branches and departments to fulfill client needs. They also perform various duties as they relate to new merchant acquisition and current client retention.

POSITION TYPE & SCHEDULE:

Full-time, Exempt. 40 hours per week, typically Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm. This schedule is subject to change based on the business needs of the Bank.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Sales:

  • Perform outside sales calls and develop new business based on prospecting telephone consulting, and in-person calling.
  • Perform outside sales calls on branch referrals.
  • Determine Merchant Bankcard needs and offer solutions.
  • Work with branches and departments to identify referrals and successfully complete the sales cycle.
  • Market and actively promote Bank products and services to retain and grow current client base.
  • Refer customers to other Bank departments for additional financial service products.
  • Assist prospective merchants and branches with information for opening new accounts.
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure satisfaction and cross-sell additional products.
  • Market and actively promote bank through community events.
  • Provide adequate training to merchants and appropriate staff as requested.
  • Will provide sales and support for Treasury management.

Administrative:

  • Measures and reports against agreed goals and benchmarks.
  • Supports merchants, branches, CCC and third-party processor with equipment related requests.
  • Ensure all rules, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to VISA and MasterCard and the policies and procedures of the Bank are followed.
  • Maintains vendor relationships as required with designated business partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of electronic processing of all major credit cards, debit cards, EBT, ATM, and payroll services.
  • General knowledge of Merchant Services & ATM / Debit Card industry.
  • Knowledge of credit card merchant terminal operation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of bank products and services.
  • Skills operating a personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Ability to provide personal transportation is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must maintain valid California driver’s licenses

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk. May require travel to customer sites.

Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in business administration or related field; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum of three years’ experience in a bank sales role with knowledge of merchant services products.

  • The hiring range for this position is $57,918 to $77,465 per year. The compensation offered will fall within this range commensurate with the candidate's applicable experience, education and skills.
