Welcome to Love's College Intern Program: The Love's college internship program is frequently referred to as the best in Oklahoma City. This rapidly growing program provides opportunities for students in multiple areas of the business to receive employee level experience, not just busy work. Students gain valuable knowledge that they can't get in a classroom; they are guided through proper etiquette of a professional corporate setting. The primary purpose of the merchandising analytics intern will support initiatives that directly impact revenue and profitability across the Merchandising and Operations Departments. This individual will contribute to the vision, goal setting, implementation, and delivery of merchandising analytics. This position also assists the Category Management Team in efforts of maximizing sales, profit, or units. Collaborate with Category Management in defining, forecasting, and analyzing possible merchandising actions. This role will also gather data and conduct analysis to support the efforts of the Merchandising and Operations teams.
Job Functions:
  • Support the creation and maintenance of merchandising rules or policies
  • Analyze volume, revenue and profit data to determine financial impact of merchandising scenarios
  • Coordinate with Category Management to ensure alignment with the category and merchandising rules or strategies
  • Support any existing and future reporting or analytical needs
  • Assemble and review KPIs that support Merchandising efforts
  • Utilize the BI platform and Microsoft Excel to analyze sales, purchasing and inventory patterns
  • Produce regular scorecard and sales trend reporting
  • Assist and/or lead in providing solutions for various departments within Love's
  • Seek the synergy of other departments in setting cost saving initiatives

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Finance, Economics, Marketing or Business Administration

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to devise an analytical approach to solving business problems
  • Understanding basic pricing concepts such as price elasticities, promotional uplift, cannibalization and affinities
  • General understanding of the retail business environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Customer service driven
  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
