Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern
Location: Summerville, SC
Target candidates: Rising Juniors / Seniors (Mechanical Engineering)
About CEMS: CEMS Engineering is a multi-discipline Architecture and Engineering firm serving Federal, Municipal, and Private clients throughout the Carolinas and the East Coast. Our Summerville, SC office continues to grow, and we are seeking motivated Mechanical Engineering students to join our team for the summer.
Description CEMS is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support HVAC and building systems design on active projects. Interns will work closely with licensed engineers and gain hands-on experience in both design and field coordination.
This position is ideal for students interested in real-world application of mechanical engineering principles, not just classroom theory.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with HVAC system layouts and calculations.
  • Support energy modeling and load analysis (Trane TRACE / Carrier HAP)
  • Review drawings and specifications under engineer supervision.
  • Participate in site visits and commissioning activities as available.
  • Learn Revit MEP modeling and coordination workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled in BS Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Strong interest in building systems and thermal-fluid sciences
Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Revit MEP exposure
  • Coursework in fluids and/or thermodynamics
  • Interest in commissioning or sustainability
