Description
Vaughn Industries a commercial Electrical/Mechanical and High Voltage contractor located in Columbus, Ohio has openings in our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department for VDC MEP/BIM Coordinators. This position will manage and integrate digital building models (BIM) for construction projects, acting as the liaison between architects, engineers, and trades to find conflicts, streamline workflows, and ensure designs are buildable before physical construction starts, using technology to visualize and solve problems digitally.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Model Management: Oversees Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for various project disciplines.
  • Coordination: Leads clash detection meetings and coordinates with all project stakeholders (architects, engineers, subcontractors) to resolve design issues.
  • Digital Integration: Develops integrated models to ensure seamless data flow and project understanding.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies potential construction problems in the virtual environment to prevent costly changes during the physical build.
  • Field Support: Connects digital models to on-site construction, verifying alignment and addressing unforeseen issues.

Role & Importance:
  • Bridge: Connects the design team with the construction team.
  • Enhances Communication: Improves clarity and reduces miscommunication through digital tools.
  • Optimizes Construction: Streamlines workflows, reduces errors, and improves efficiency.

Requirements
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience using Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or Navisworks; or
  • 2-4 years of construction installation/industry experience consisting of a blend of technical software skills in (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD), and deep understanding of MEP systems & coordination workflows or strong technical software skills, and a deep understanding of electrical High Voltage substation/transmission distribution construction principles
  • Read & interpret submittals, RFI's, and related construction documents
  • Excellent communication skills
