Bruker's Atomic Force Microscopy division is looking for an experienced research & development engineer specialized in MEMS design and fabrication of sensing probes used in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). This position drives the development of new AFM probes and works closely with internal and external groups to set the development roadmap. This position requires strong initiative, effective cross-functional teamwork, a hands-on approach, and deep technical expertise. Preferred candidates will be self-starters with the ability to set goals and achieve them with minimal supervision and have a high level for attention to detail.

This position is onsite and based in Camarillo, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Extract and generate engineering requirements for the AFM probes
  • Design of MEMS AFM probes and their fabrication process
  • Modeling of AFM probes and processes, using FEA and/or etch simulation tools
  • Hands-on fabrication of prototypes
  • Support smooth production scale up.
  • Work closely with internal and external collaborators.
  • Review patent landscape and write patent disclosures/applications
Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Proven track record in MEMS design and fabrication, including full process design, fabrication, and production scale-up.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Hard working, team oriented, curious, creative, and committed to quality.
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on MEMS plus ~ 10 years of related experience (5 years plus Master's degree, 3 years plus PhD, or equivalent work experience is acceptable).
  • Above all, we are looking for the right individual to work in a positive, flexible, and fast-paced technical work environment

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Normal visual acuity and hearing.
  • The ability to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds

Work Environment

Typical office and laboratory work environment. Work required in Class 1000 clean room with full gowning protocol.

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $107,100 and $190,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
