Job description

Business Development Representative
If you are interested in working for a leader in the credit union industry then we are looking for you! We are a dynamic company with growth opportunities, and our membership base consists of ComEd/Exelon, Constellation, Northwestern Medicine, and Northwestern University, as well as a 14-county community charter including Rockford, Evanston, and Chicago.
Position Purpose:
The Business Development Representative (B2B and outside sales) is primarily responsible for new member acquisition as well as enhancing Select Employee Group (SEG, a/k/a "bank at work") relationships and community relationships for First Northern Credit Union.
In this role, the BD Representative will foster the relationships of employees, community/civic leaders, members, and other centers of influence.
The representative should have a sales-oriented personality and be prepared to take personal ownership of First Northern's new membership growth goals.
This position is primarily based in either Chicago or Rockford and surrounding areas, with functions and duties in all markets, and reporting to the Business Development Manager.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Execute outside sales and activities including but not limited to: SEG visits, table days, seminars/Webinars, and organizing community events and sponsorship opportunities
  • Create campaigns and events to support new membership and product penetration goals, ensuring that BD efforts are coordinated across appropriate markets, branches, SEGs, etc.
  • Collect and cultivate key contacts geared towards relationship development and management with each SEG and charter-based community
  • Cultivate and enhance relationships with dealerships for indirect vehicle lending
  • Onboarding new dealers in First Northern's field of membership
  • Achieve budgeted volume objectives while maintaining the credit union's guidelines for credit quality
  • Assist in planning and budgeting aspects of the Business Development Department
  • Generate standardized tracking methodology for each activity

A qualified candidate should have:
  • Demonstrated sales ability to aggressively promote and acquire new accounts
  • 2+ years of sales/business development/marketing experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Financial services experience is preferred; credit union experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent internal and external service skills
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Ability to travel in Northern Illinois (80%+ outbound)
  • Flexibility in schedule and willingness to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary, to total 40 hours or more per week as well as travel to events and branches.
