JOB TITLE: Membership Services โ€“ Wknd/Evening Shift Lead SUPERVISOR: Director of Membership
DEPARTMENT: Membership FLSA STATUS: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated professional to drive our peak-hour operations. This position is exclusively designed for evening and weekend coverage to ensure our facility runs smoothly when our community needs us most. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are looking for non-traditional, fixed hours, this role is for you.
SCHEDULE:

Required Availability: This position is strictly for evening and weekend shifts. Applicants must be consistently available to work within the following windows:

  • Weeknights (Monday โ€“ Friday): 3:00 PM โ€“ 9:15 PM

  • Saturdays: 7:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM

  • Sundays: 10:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM (Note: Actual scheduled shifts will fall within these timeframes based on weekly operational needs).


GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the Director of Membership, the Membership Services โ€“ Shift Lead will support, implement, and model systems and practices that support extraordinary member and participant experiences. Emphasis is on the satisfaction of members and participantsโ€™ overall experience, from initial engagement and enrollment to continual connection with the appropriate staff, programs, and services.

The Membership Services โ€“ Shift Lead will help build a relationship-based membership experience that moves members and participants along a continuum from connection to committed involvement. The Shift Lead will provide leadership and support to Membership Services staff during assigned evening and weekend shifts and will model the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

KNOW HOW

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in leadership, customer service, sales, and organizational and interpersonal skills. This person must present a professional image and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. This person should have the ability to work through and resolve conflict situations.

Experience with word processing, computers, and basic accounting skills is preferred. This person will become knowledgeable about membership and all programs and services offered by the Salina Family YMCA, as well as maintain detailed records and work effectively with the Director of Membership and other staff. This person must have experience building positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and always demonstrating professional conduct.
  • Provide leadership and support to assigned staff during evening and weekend shifts.
  • Assist in organizing assigned staff to support membership development and retention goals.
  • Identify and help resolve problem areas to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Sell membership and program enrollment through interactions with existing and potential members.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Membership Director and Coordinator on marketing and promotions.
  • Work with the leadership team to continually improve member and participant engagement and experience.
  • Implement follow-up phone call strategies to new members, prospects, and terminated members.
  • Maintain a presence on the floor by greeting members, ensuring member needs are being met, introducing members to other members, suggesting programs, and being available for questions, resolutions, and staff support.
  • Support the Membership Desk in consistently providing good customer service through orientation training and timely refresher training.
  • Ensure proper implementation of membership desk procedures.
  • Assist in the supervision of Membership Services staff during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with staff training on policies and procedures, including Daxko.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of all YMCA programs, services, and policies.
  • Follow all YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as requested.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees must follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA. Employees must be able to lift a fifty (50) pound object, remain alert, move to various locations, communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances, identify noises of distress, ability to handle irate, complaining, or demanding individuals without internalizing or personalizing comments made and have the ability to make sound judgments and decisions, even when distracted by noise or activity. Employees must have their CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire and maintain active certifications though the duration of employment. Employees must have the ability to recognize potential hazards.

The Membership Services โ€“ Shift Lead will display and model best practices for Membership Sales, Membership Engagement and retention by providing enthusiastic, high quality service through active listening, relationship building and positive interactions.
