Key responsibilities

  • Build and ship features across the web application and backend services in TypeScript, React, and Next.js

  • Design and build APIs and integrations connecting the platform to external systems such as CRMs, payment platforms, and telephony

  • Work directly with customers, sales, and product teams to translate real-world requirements and compliance constraints into working product logic

Job description

About the role

We're looking for a software engineer who is as comfortable shipping code as they are talking to the people who use it. Veritus is a YC-backed startup rebuilding loan servicing and collections with AI, giving fintechs, credit card issuers, and collection agencies the ability to launch, tune, and A/B test AI agents across voice, chat, SMS, and email, all while staying compliant.

You'll work across our full stack (TypeScript, React, Next.js, on Google Cloud) building the core product, and you'll also get hands-on time helping translate real customer requirements into working agent logic, integrations, and experiments. This is a generalist role for someone who wants full-stack ownership and real exposure to customers, not a narrow specialist track.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship features across our web application and backend services in TypeScript, React, and Next.js

  • Design and build APIs and integrations that connect our platform to external systems (CRMs, payment platforms, telephony, etc.)

  • Work directly with customers, sales, and product to turn real-world requirements and compliance constraints into working, testable product logic

  • Use AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, and similar) as a core part of how you build, not an afterthought

  • Help design and analyze experiments (A/B tests) to improve business outcomes for our clients

  • Get exposure to the unique challenges of building real-time, AI-native voice and chat systems

About you

  • 0-3 years of professional software engineering experience, including strong new grads with solid internships

  • A track record of building modern web applications in TypeScript and React

  • Comfortable building and consuming APIs; some backend exposure (Python a plus) is helpful but not required

  • Genuinely excited about AI, both as a builder of AI products and as a user of AI development tools

  • A strong communicator who enjoys engaging directly with customers and non-engineering partners, not just other engineers

  • Strong product intuition and a bias toward simple, working solutions over perfect ones

  • Based in San Francisco, CA and willing to work in person

  • Excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment where your role will evolve

Nice to have

  • Exposure to AI/ML systems, orchestration frameworks, or LLM evaluation

  • Experience in financial services, healthcare, or another compliance-heavy environment

  • Fluency in Spanish

Tech stack

  • Languages: TypeScript, with some Python

  • Frameworks: Next.js, React

  • Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (primary), with some AWS

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity

  • Inclusive healthcare package

  • Stipends for AI tools like Codex and Claude Code

  • Flexible time off
