Job Title: Member of Technical Staff
Location: Santa Monica, CA (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-time
Level: Senior+
Company: favorited
About favorited
At favorited, we believe that digital communities should be more than just spaces to watch content. Our platform is a place to connect, engage, and play, and empowers creators by enhancing audience participation and fostering deeper connections.
Our work culture is intense and isn't for everyone. But, if you're a self-starter eager to shape the future of social interaction with a team that holds itself to the highest standards, this is the place for you. We value open, yet respectful communication and real-time feedback to help each other grow quickly. If you're passionate about gaming and have a knack for gamifying everyday life, you'll thrive in our fast-moving, collaborative environment.
About the Role
We're always looking for exceptional engineers to join the favorited team. This is an open-ended opportunity for strong technical talent who sees something exciting in what we're building and wants to help shape the future of interactive social experiences.
We're interested in engineers across a range of disciplines, including native mobile development (iOS or Android), full-stack, backend, and infrastructure. You may be a specialist in one area or a versatile engineer who enjoys working across the stack.
The common thread is that you've built products from 0 → 1 or helped scale products from 1 → 10, and you're excited to work on technology that directly impacts consumers, creators, and communities.
What You'll Work On
Depending on your background and where you can make the greatest impact, you may work on:
  • Building new products and experiences from 0 → 1 and helping take them from early concepts to production.
  • Scaling existing systems and applications from 1 → 10 as our user and creator base grows.
  • Developing native mobile applications across iOS and Android.
  • Building scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Developing full-stack experiences that bring together frontend, backend, and product functionality.
  • Building and scaling infrastructure that supports reliable, high-performance consumer applications.
  • Working on real-time, interactive experiences across gaming, livestreaming, and social.
  • Partnering closely with product and design to turn ideas into intuitive, engaging user experiences.
  • Identifying technical and product opportunities and taking ownership of solving them.
  • Helping establish the technical foundation and architecture that will support favorited as we scale.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a software engineer building consumer-facing products at scale.
  • Experience taking products or significant features from 0 → 1, or helping scale products from 1 → 10.
  • Strong engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Native iOS development
    • Native Android development
    • Full-stack engineering
    • Backend engineering
    • Infrastructure / platform engineering
  • Experience working on large-scale consumer applications with meaningful user volume.
  • Startup experience or demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment.
  • Strong product instincts and an interest in understanding the why behind what you're building, not just the technical implementation.
  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and identify what needs to be done without waiting for direction.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for gaming, livestreaming, social platforms, or interactive online experiences.
What Stands Out
  • You've been part of a small team that took a product from idea to launch.
  • You've helped scale a product, system, or application through a period of significant growth.
  • You've worked at a startup where you had broad ownership and had to figure things out as you went.
  • You're equally interested in technology and the product experience it enables.
  • You have strong opinions, curiosity, and a willingness to challenge assumptions.
  • You're passionate about gaming, livestreaming, creator communities, or the broader evolution of social interaction.
  • You're a self-starter who gets excited about solving problems that don't have obvious answers.
Salary & Benefits
Compensation: $150k - $200k base + equity
Benefits Include:
  • Unlimited PTO to prioritize work-life balance.
  • 401(k) plan to invest in your future.
  • Comprehensive health insurance to support your well-being.
  • Paid company holidays to recharge.
  • Competitive salary that values your expertise and contributions.
