LabCorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team at our facility on RTP, NC.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Follows the laboratory's procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Proficiently performs the principal functional responsibilities of the Technician job duties as necessary.
  • Verifies proper and consistent identification of specimens prior to and during all accessioning and processing steps.
  • Records initials on all paperwork to indicate work performed by individual.
  • Notifies Senior Technologist, Team Lead, Supervisor, Lab Manager or Lab Director of any identification discrepancies and documents action taken.
  • Operates Flow Cytometers, Slide stainer and CBC analyzer instruments in order to perform assigned duties.
  • Tests specimens completely, accurately and within established time frames.
  • Understands and follows established testing procedures.
  • Understands that all patient information is confidential and complies with HIPAA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
