Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing Services (DON) to lead a highly rated 12-bed Skilled Nursing Center within a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on nursing leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional resident care while providing strategic leadership for nursing operations.
The Director of Nursing Services will oversee all aspects of Nursing Services, including clinical operations, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, staffing, employee development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate is an engaged leader who enjoys building meaningful relationships with residents, families, and staff while maintaining a strong commitment to quality outcomes and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee all Nursing Services operations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Massachusetts Department of Public Health requirements.
- Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Oversee resident assessments, care planning, nursing documentation, and clinical outcomes.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and staff development.
- Promote a culture of person-centered care, dignity, respect, and resident satisfaction.
- Oversee infection prevention and control programs.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Develop and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
- Ensure employee orientation, ongoing education, competency, and safety requirements are met.
- Provide clinical leadership and support when needed.
- Participate in organizational committees, strategic initiatives, and other leadership activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or similar healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts long-term care regulations and survey processes.
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, staff leadership, and employee development.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Previous Director of Nursing (DON) experience.
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams.
- Budget management experience.
