A Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist helps doctors deliver primary health care and manage patient care. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should also be able to multi-task, while being detail-oriented at the same time. Applicants must be able to prioritize and adapt to changing situations in a calm and professional manner. Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Greeting and interacting with patients
  • Coordinating patient care
  • Answering telephones, taking messages, and directing calls appropriately
  • Checking patients in and out; verifying and updating necessary information in medical records
  • Completing data entry, mail management, and scanning
  • Maintaining appointment schedule by following office-scheduling policies
  • Checking Insurance verification/authorizations for tests and surgeries
  • Collecting co-pays and occasionally handling finances
  • Room setup and rooming patients
  • Taking vitals and recording patient's medical history
  • Communicating with patients and determining medical problems
  • Maintaining exam room in a clean and orderly manner for examinations and testing
  • Stocking supplies and sterilizing instruments
  • Providing assistance as needed in the front office
Experience
