Job description


This position requires potential employees to be willing and able to do multiple physical and social tasks for the Shimberg Health Sciences Library.
Student Assistants will be expected to retrieve, shift, and shelve books in correct order. They will lift, rearrange, and move furniture and supplies. They will also routinely make sweeps of the library to look for any disturbances or security issues.
They will also be required to monitor doors to assist patrons attempting entry. They must be able to communicate instructions and questions clearly and follow strict guidelines. They must be comfortable communicating in person, phone and electronically. They will also give limited assistance to passport applicants. Customer service skills are a high priority.
Student Assistants will assist with scanning and sending articles for interlibrary loans and communicate with the ILL staff. They will also assist with charging and discharging library materials for patrons.
Student Assistants will help monitor, approve and check out study rooms. They will explain and answer questions about study-room policies. They will provide basic assistance with library resources, such as the catalog and databases, and direct them to other library staff when necessary.
Student Assistants will also help library staff with projects and events.
They will also be required to assist with other duties as needed.
Responsibilities
You must:
Be degree-seeking; and
Be SAP eligible for federal financial aid; and
Be actively enrolled at least half-time
Your FAFSA will be evaluated for financial need to determine your eligibility. If eligible, you will be offered an award package that may include FWS.
