Job description

Greetings! We are seeking a reliable and hard working Medical Assistant for our small specialty practice. Below is a list of the roles and responsibilities. We're looking for a motivated new member of the team to learn and grow with the practice.

  • Greets visitors, ascertains purpose of visit, and directs them to appropriate staff.
  • Interviews patients to complete documents, case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms. Compiles and records medical charts, reports, and correspondence using a computer and various software programs. Transmits correspondence and medical records by mail, email, or fax.
  • Schedules and confirms patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, and medical consultations.
  • Answers telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  • Receives and routes messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate staff.
  • Operates office equipment such as voicemail messaging systems, and uses word processing, spreadsheet, and other software to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records.
  • Maintains medical records, technical library, and correspondence files.
  • Performs various clerical and administrative functions such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
  • Manages clinician calendars regarding patient visits, office procedures or outpatient facilities. I perform surgeries at other facilities so you will need to correspond and coordinate scheduling of surgical patients.
  • Assists with set up disposal, and performance of minor procedure equipment in the office such as syringes, needles, injectable medications.
  • Operate a mobile X-ray machine under direct supervision (will be oriented and directed - radiation protection is provided)
  • Provide patients with simple interventions including intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of medications (training provided)
