Job description

Medical Expert Inspector/Auditors
Salary: $75,000 - $105,000 annually
Remote:
Must be able to travel approximately 1 or 2 weeks a month to facilities.
Must be able to maintain the ability to be 24-hour travel-ready for unannounced facility visits.
At the Vander Weele Group, we are a leading provider of grant monitoring and oversight solutions. We leverage deep domain expertise to streamline grant management processes, mitigate risks, and enhance transparency. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the salary range. The actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
We are seeking several Medical Subject Matter Experts to support nationwide compliance inspections for a federal facility project. These roles require an experienced medical professional who can evaluate the quality of medical care provided in an institutional setting. You will be responsible for conducting on-site walkthroughs, reviewing facility healthcare practices, interviewing staff and residents, and synthesizing specialized findings into high-quality compliance assessments. Positions are contingent upon project award.
What Success Looks Like
  • Conduct on-site clinical walkthroughs and evaluate the quality and compliance of medical care provided in monitored facilities.
  • Interview facility healthcare staff and residents to collect high-quality data regarding medical services and living conditions.
  • Synthesize complex medical findings and clinical data into clear, actionable reports that identify deficiencies and conform to federal oversight standards.
  • Create comprehensive workpapers and draft specialized sections of site-specific reports that outline medical deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Coordinate closely with Senior Inspectors and Lead Auditors to successfully integrate medical oversight findings into the team's inspection activities, reports, and final draft reports.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information, including protected health information and PII, collected during fieldwork.
  • This position requires high physical and logistical readiness.
  • Ability to travel one week a month, sometimes two, and remain 24-hour ready for unannounced facility visits.
  • Capacity to walk 15,000+ steps, stand for 8-10 hours, and carry equipment through various facility terrains.

Requirements
You'll Thrive Here If
  • You have 5+ years of experience working in a medical capacity, such as medicine, nursing, healthcare administration, or a closely related clinical field, credentials, and an advanced degree.
  • You have a proven track record and deep expertise in evaluating the quality of medical care in correctional, institutional, or residential settings.
  • You are deeply familiar with oversight standards, such as the NCCHC Standards for Health Services or federal government inspection guidelines.
  • You possess superior English writing skills with the ability to translate complex medical findings into detailed, highly readable compliance assessments under tight deadlines.
  • You are an exceptional collaborator who can work seamlessly within a multi-disciplinary federal oversight inspection team.
  • You have U.S. Citizenship (required for this federal project).
