Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group of patients. This role involves leading the nursing team in providing care as directed by attending physicians and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Scope of Practice

The Registered Nurse delivers care to individuals and groups requiring specialized knowledge and clinical judgment. This care is guided by the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. The RN practices within the full legal scope defined by the state Board of Nursing and in accordance with the standards of accrediting bodies.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • In Michigan, RNs must complete 25 contact hours of continuing education per licensure period:
  • 2 hours on pain and symptom management
  • 1 hour on implicit bias training

Licensure:

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in the practicing state

Certifications:

  • Current CPR certification required
  • Additional specialty certifications as applicable to role or department
