General Position Description: Provides services for children birth to twelve, families, Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) contracted providers, and Child Care Administration (CCA) staff throughout Southern Arizona for the purpose of stabilizing a target child's childcare placement. ย 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses a framework of promotion, prevention, and early intervention to promote social emotional development and resilience and prevention of behavioral difficulties for those at risk of expulsion.ย 
  • Accepts incoming expulsion referrals, phone calls, and emails; triages and prioritizes each request.ย 
  • Acts as a resource regarding early childhood development with an emphasis on emotional and behavioral health and the importance of the relationships between the participant and the child.ย 
  • Provides observations and recommendations regarding the social-emotional environment to assist in identifying children in need of support with the behavioral, emotional, or developmental concerns.
  • Collaborates with childcare providers, directors, managers, and other team members to build their knowledge and skills to support the needs of children and families.ย 
  • Partners with and supports early care and education providers to facilitate ongoing communication with parents regarding mental health, behavioral, or developmental concerns for their children.
  • Develops written intervention strategies utilizing a team approach to assist staff in developing positive behavior support strategies to promote optimal social-emotional development.ย 
  • Adheres to the Codes of Ethics of National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.ย 
  • Assists in developing, delivering, and evaluating training modules for the Expulsion Prevention program, annual conference, and other community trainings as appropriate.ย 
  • Ensures program data is correct for accurate and timely billing. Completes progress notes in a timely fashion as required by funding source and/or system partners. Meets requirements of productivity standards set for the Resource Consultant.
  • Participates in the process of ongoing professional development and meetings. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts within the agency, members, and external agencies. Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with EBF Code of Conduct, Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision.ย 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Education, or a Master's degree that leads towards licensure from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners with 5 years of experience working with children birth to twelve years and their families required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Regulatoryย 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.ย 
  • Current, unrestricted AZ driver's license with no more than two (2) minor moving violations or one (1) accident within the past three (3 years). Three (3) years of driving experience required.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (employer provides).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (Employer provides).
  • Maintains Specialty Instructor Status in the Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Registry, obtaining the Specialty Instructor Status in the Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Registry within 3 months of hire.ย 

Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities: Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department and program. Must be self-directed and be sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. Excellent customer service in stressful situations. Maintains a professional appearance, communications, and actions. Maintains awareness of current professional information in the fields of activity, undertakes regular and ongoing efforts to maintain competencies in the skills used, and incorporates new knowledge and skills on the job. Ability to accurately read, record, and interpret information, including assessments, measures, and diagnostic criteria. Ability to recognize the need to maintain a dual focus on both relationships with participants and program activities fostering an assets or strengths-based approach. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Basic knowledge of child development, community resources and referrals, positive guidance and discipline, and adult learning principles and practices. Knowledge of special education procedures and the special needs of young children with disabilities and their families. Posses a high level of computer proficiency.ย 


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation): Normal office environment with multiple interruptions in person and through computer and phone. Field position visiting different childcare and home-care provider sites. Will work outside and inside environments, as needed. ย Interacts with employees and members of the public on a daily basis. High activity environment with children and parent interactions. May lift normal office equipment and materials up to 25lbs. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and to assess the wellbeing of children. Able to speak clearly in conversations and general communications. ย Hearing ability for communication in persona, phone, and/or other electronic methods. Manual dexterity for typing and writing. Able to stoop, squat, reach, pull, push, stretch, ascend and descend stairs, stand and sit for long periods of time. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.ย
