What the scholarship includes:

  • Fully funded tuition for the Medical Assistant program at Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) beginning in August 2026 through July 2027
  • Books and additional fees are included!
  • AAMA certification exam fee paid after completion of the program 
  • Full-time job guaranteed at Medical Associates upon successful completion of the program  

Why a CMA scholarship?
CMA's are one of the fastest-growing healthcare professionals who perform administrative and clinical functions in a medical office setting. CMA’s are valuable to Medical Associates and can be found in almost all of our clinical departments working alongside clinical staff to support our 200+ advanced practice providers and physicians. 
Scholarship Program Details:
Medical Associates will cover the cost of tuition, books, and exam fees not covered by other federal, state, institutional and private awards including Federal Pell Grant and Last Dollar Scholar. In other words, we will cover the remaining fees after all other federal, state, and private funding has been applied.
NICC's Medical Assistant program runs from August 2026 through July 2027. The program includes a six-week on-site clinical externship that will be facilitated at Medical Associates Clinic in the summer of 2027. When the Medical Assistant program and certification exam is complete, the scholarship recipient(s) will start working as a full-time Certified Medical Assistant at Medical Associates.
The CMA role at Medical Associates clinic will provide quality patient care for clinic patients. You will assist physicians, providers, and co-workers in coordinating and carrying outpatient care plans and services.

Eligibility Requirements
:
Education: High school diploma or GED by Spring 2026. 
NICC Medical Assistant Program: You must apply and be accepted into the NICC Medical Assistant program. To apply to NICC, please click on this link: https://www.nicc.edu/admissions/apply/ 

Experience:
Customer Service or healthcare experience preferred.

Interpersonal Skills
: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills: Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment.
