Job description

Position Shift Time: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital is a single-specialty surgical hospital in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Our hospital was developed by Rothman physicians to provide their patients high quality and patient-focused care.
Our facility features 6 fully-equipped operating rooms and 24 in-patient rooms. We are equipped for joint replacements, orthopedic surgery, pain management and spine surgery, as well as sports medicine, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, and hand and wrist procedures.

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide patient care within state standards of practice, policies and procedures of the Hospital. The medical assistant performs preoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care while communicating appropriate information to other team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review patient chart for completion of paperwork needed for day of surgery.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with intake coordinator and RN's regarding issues important to meeting the needs of the patient and surgeon.
  • Collaborates with RN in planning, implementing and evaluating care provided. Provides continuity of routine assessment of assigned patient.
  • Collaborates with RN in completion of discharge summary and patient instructions.
  • Take patients vitals, ekg's, bladder scans, peak flows and phlebotomy
  • Assist with patient phone calls to obtain medical history
  • Work with coordinator/RN's to communicate patient status to physicain practice and cardiology as needed
  • Provide coverage for intake registrar when need

QUALIFICATIONS:
- AAMA Certification
- Medical Terminology
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as Medical Assistant
- BLS Certification
- MUST KNOW HOW TO DO BLOOD DRAW & EKG'S
