Job Responsibilities The Greene County Health Department in Greensboro is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.

This position will primarily support front office operations while also assisting with back-office clinical functions, including support for the WIC and Environmental Health (EH) programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills and enjoy working with a diverse patient population. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Greet patients and visitors and assist with the check-in process.

Schedule appointments, answer telephones, and provide exceptional customer service. Collect fees for services and accurately process payments. Review patient medical history and ensure all required documentation is complete.

Enter patient information into the electronic health record and maintain accurate, confidential records. Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, and hemoglobin (Hgb), as appropriate. Assist nursing staff with patient pre-workup and other clinical duties.

Collect blood and other laboratory specimens as directed by nursing staff and prepare and log specimens for processing. Provide administrative support for the WIC program, including scheduling appointments, assisting participants with required paperwork, and maintaining accurate program records. Assist with Environmental Health (EH) office operations by greeting customers, processing permits and applications, collecting fees, scheduling inspections, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff.

File and maintain medical and program records in accordance with agency policies. Perform other administrative and clinical duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in medical assisting.
