WHAT DO WE DO?
CHSI is a private, non-profit organization established in 1973 to serve the health needs of migrant & seasonal farm workers and their family members. Today, CHSI has expanded its services and provides mental & physical healthcare to all individuals in our communities. Our services are provided on a more affordable sliding fee scale to those who are underinsured or uninsured. We also accept ND and MN Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans. We currently operate four nurse-managed clinics, two mobile medical units, and two victim advocacy program centers in Minnesota & North Dakota.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are searching for a full-time Dental Services Manager to join our Moorhead, MN team.
The Dental Services Manager is responsible for providing clinical leadership to all dental support staff through direct supervision for dental assistants at Community Health Service, Inc (CHSI). This position is responsible for developing high-performing dental support teams, ensuring consistent dental workflows, maintaining regulatory compliance, advancing quality improvement initiatives, and supporting exceptional patient-centered care. Working within CHSI's dyad leadership model, the Dental Services Manager partners with Site Managers to ensure high quality daily dental operations through appropriate staffing, competency validation, workflow consistency, clinical training, and professional development. While also collaborating with the Dental Director to promote evidence-based clinical practice, clinically appropriate workflows, patient safety, and quality outcomes. Require travel between multiple clinic sites.
Responsibilities
  1. Dental Leadership
  • Leads dental support staff across CHSI locations
  • Standardizes clinical workflows and dental procedures
  • Develops dental policies and clinical support protocols
  • Supports implementation of evidence-based practices
  • Oversees dental assistant competencies
  • Leads DA orientation and onboarding

Staff Management
  • Directly supervises DA staff
  • Coaches and develops DA leaders
  • Completes performance evaluations
  • Participates in hiring and onboarding
  • Assists with succession planning
  • Addresses performance concerns
  • Builds a culture of accountability

Dyad Leadership with Site Managers
  • Participates in operational meetings
  • Balances staffing needs with clinic operation
  • Coordinates implementation of new workflows.
  • Solves clinical-operational issues collaboratively
  • Supports provider productivity
  • Collaborates to provide improvement for patient access
  • Coordinates staffing coverage during absences

Dental Infrastructure
  • Develops dental workflows with Dental Director
  • Develops standards for sterilization program
  • Completes reporting for referrals and improves workflows
  • Develops standards for dental supplies
  • Coordinates compliance of the sterilization program
  • Oversees clinical emergency preparedness
  • Develops dental documentation procedures and accountability

Quality Improvement and Risk Management
  • Monitors dental quality metrics.
  • Participates in risk investigations.
  • Assists with FTCA readiness.
  • Participates in OSV preparation.
  • Monitors incident reporting.
  • Leads dental quality improvement with Dental Director
  • Audits dental assistant documentation

Population Health
  • Collaborates on chronic disease initiatives.
  • Supports care gap closure.
  • Oversees dental outreach.
  • Supports care coordination with primary care and behavioral health.
  • Partners with Outreach & Enrollment (O&E) teams.
  • Uses Epic and Azara data to improve patient outcomes

Regulatory Compliance

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
  • Ability to bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously, and stand or walk frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use hands/arms, feet/legs for repetitive fine to large motor skill movements

Education: Associate degree in Dental Hygiene or Dental Assistant from an accredited school is required.
Licenses/Certifications: Current State license to practice as a Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist; Current Basic Life Support Certification.
Experience: Minimum three years of dental experience; Program management and supervisory experience desirable; Experience in an integrated clinical setting preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Knowledge of and ability to apply dental principles and practices.
  2. Demonstrated teaching ability and experience.
  3. Skill in identifying problems, researching, and recommending resolutions.
  4. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  5. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
  6. Experience with OCHIN Epic, Wisdom, or other Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
  7. Knowledge and understanding of socio-economic and health problems of underserved populations.
