Summer 2026 | Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA | Berkshires, MA
Do you love working with children, value community, and want to spend your summer in a beautiful, purpose-driven setting? Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, a premier overnight camp in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, is seeking Camp Medical Advisors (MA) to join our healthcare leadership team for Summer 2026.
This is a unique opportunity to practice medicine in a collaborative, well-supported camp setting while becoming an integral part of a vibrant camp community.
Position Overview
The Camp Medical Advisor provides onsite medical leadership and oversight for all Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA programs in consultation with the Healthcare Consultant (offsite Pediatrician)and is supervised by the Chief Program Officer. The Medical Advisor will work closely with the Camp Nurses (Licensed Medical Professionals) assigned to each camp health center and serve as a key point of consultation and escalation for medical concerns requiring advanced clinical support.
You will be part of a collaborative healthcare team that includes Camp Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and a Medical Office Manager. This role combines clinical leadership with hands-on engagement in a dynamic camp environment.
Priority will be given to candidates who can live on site and commit to the full summer season (June 20-August 21, 2026).
Schedule & Commitment
Summer season: June 20-August 21, 2026On-site presence required; daily schedule coordinated with camp leadership and healthcare team. Will consider off-site and partial summer schedules if necessary.
This is a rare opportunity to live and work at camp, build meaningful relationships with campers and staff, and enjoy the best of summer camp life-while practicing within a thoughtful, structured, and supportive medical system.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical oversight to ensure healthcare services align with camp policies, healthcare protocols, and state regulations.
  • Serve as a point of escalation and clinical resource for Camp Nurses and healthcare staff at each health center.
  • Visit each camp health center as scheduled and hold clinic hours at both sites with approximately 1-2 hours of clinic hours at each camp daily for 2-6 hours of coverage each day. Serve in an on-call capacity as scheduled.
  • Provide consultation, prescribe medications, and offer additional clinical care as needed by the healthcare staff.
  • Collaborate with the Healthcare Consultant as needed on complex or higher-level medical concerns.
  • Support a calm, professional, and team-oriented healthcare environment for campers and staff.

Qualifications
  • Current licensure as one of the following:
    • Nurse Practitioner (NP)
    • Physician Assistant (PA)
    • Medical Doctor (MD)
  • Licensed in Massachusetts or able to obtain MA licensure (camp can assist with associated fees if needed)
  • Authorized to prescribe medications in the State of Massachusetts
  • Experience working with children (camp, pediatric, school, or similar settings preferred)
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred
  • Proof of physical exam within the last 18 months and up-to-date immunizations required
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and interest in working in a camp setting
