Description Position Summary

The Medical Advisor is a field-based healthcare professional with advanced clinical, scientific, and therapeutic expertise - ideally in infectious diseases, women's health (OB/GYN) and sexual health (STI), but with additional consideration of backgrounds in microbiology and/or acute care. The Medical Advisor provides strategic medical and scientific guidance for the company's diagnostic products, ensuring clinical accuracy and strategic alignment throughout the entire product lifecycle. As the primary scientific and clinical point of contact in the US for assigned products, the Medical Advisor collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders to:

  • Guide medical strategy and support evidence generation
  • Shape and execute strategic plans through scientific exchange and educational initiatives
  • Deliver responsive customer and medical information support, including addressing medical information requests
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate actionable medical insights to inform product development and improvement
  • By integrating clinical and scientific expertise with business objectives, and through cross-stakeholder collaboration, expert engagement, and compliance oversight, the Medical Advisor strengthens the company's credibility and ensures that products meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals, patients, and regulatory standards.

Primary Duties
  1. Serve as the primary medical and scientific expertfor commercialized diagnostic products focused on infectious diseases, women's health (OB/GYN) and sexual health (STI), but may also include microbiology and acute care. Result: Ensure accurate, evidence-based guidance that supports product credibility and clinical adoption.
  2. Lead evidence generation initiatives by organizing advisory boards, reviewing protocols, and supporting clinical studies. Result: Produce high-quality clinical evidence that highlights product performance in a variety of settings and informsmedical, commercial and governement affairs & market access strategies.
  3. Provide strategic medical guidance throughout the product lifecycle to internal and external stakeholders. Result: Align product development and commercialization with clinical needs and best practices.
  4. Shape and influence medical strategyby monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and evolving clinical guidelines. Result: Position the company as a leader in diagnostic innovation.
  5. Build and maintain expert networks with key opinion leaders, clinicians, and specialists to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. Result: Strengthen relationships that drive advocacy, collaboration, and trust.
  6. Champion scientific integrity and regulatory compliance in all medical and promotional materials. Result: Ensure all communications meet ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards, reducing compliance risk.
  7. Develop and deliver medical education programs for healthcare professionals and decision-makers on diagnostic technologies and clinical applications. Result: Increase understanding and adoption of diagnostic technologies among key stakeholders.
  8. Train internal teams on product benefits, limitations, and clinical applications to ensure accurate and effective communication. Result: Equip commercial teams with accurate, clinically relevant knowledge to support effective customer engagement.
  9. Engage with professional societies and advocacy groups to contribute to guideline development and collaborative research. Result: Enhance company visibility and influence in shaping diagnostic standards and policies.
  10. Communicate actionable insights from research and stakeholder feedback to leadership and cross-functional teams. Result: Inform strategic decisions that align with market needs and clinical trends.
  11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scientific claims are accurate, well-supported, and aligned with current research. Result: Guarantee accuracy and credibility of product messaging across all channels.
  12. Monitor and interpret scientific literature to keep the organization informed of emerging trends and best practices. Result: Ensure strategies and communications reflect the latest scientific advancements and guidelines.
  13. Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with balanced, evidence-based data in compliance with regulations. Result: Provide timely, compliant, and balanced information to maintain trust and transparency.
  14. Analyze clinician feedback and clinical data to inform product improvements and development priorities. Result: Drive enhancements that improve diagnostic accuracy and user experience.
  15. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation and Training
  • Bachelor's degree required in health sciences area
  • Advanced degree in health sciences area (eg., MD, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA) with signficant clinical experience in women's health (OB/GYN) and sexual health (STI) preferred; infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, acute/critical care)
  • Current licensed practitioner in state of residence preferred
Experience
  • 2+ years clinical experience in the diagnosis and/or management of the relevant therapeutic area (eg., infectious disease, critical care medicine, clinical microbiology)
  • Ideal candidates will have clinical experience in women's health (OB/GYN) and/or sexual health (STI), with direct patient care experience strongly preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will have advanced clinical training as a PA, NP, or MD.
  • Experience with pharma/IVD industry preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of hospital/clinical/medical issues and environment
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic technologies and clinical laboratory practices is highly desirable

The estimated salary range for this field-based role is between $156,000 - $200,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
