Sam’s Club Member Access Platform (MAP) is the nexus of the Supplier -Marketer- Merchant partnership and is responsible for delivering our suppliers (advertisers) impactful omnichannel advertising member experiences that are married with measurable insights.
Why the MAP MINDS Team?
The MAP Measurement, Insights and Data Strategy (MINDS) team is part of the Sam’s Club Member & Insights Center of Excellence org that is dedicated to supporting the retail media MAP business unit. It is comprised of two key workstreams - Performance Measurement & Insights team and Media Science & Experimentation team. MAP MINDS plays a critical role in MAP’s accelerated growth by bringing the power of 1st party deterministic membership data and advanced data science and innovative measurement approaches together to offer trusted data and insights to MAP advertisers and MAP internal teams.What you'll do...Business Measurement & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain scalable reporting solutions and dashboards for Sales and business stakeholders
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify automation opportunities and improve reporting efficiency
  • Analyze performance trends and translate findings into actionable insights
Strategy & Analytics
  • Support business case development and evaluate new initiatives through data-driven analysis
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to explain revenue trends and campaign performance and measurement
  • Contribute to experimentation design (A/B testing) and measurement frameworks
  • Build quick automaton tools to drive quick data synthesis  
    Work with product on robust data analytical asks
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Sales, offering insights into metric movements and trends and providing data-driven insights. 
  • Lead and conduct ad hoc analyses, ranging from creating new metrics to identifying the root causes of revenue fluctuations.
  • Operate independently as the go-to analytics expert for day-to-day business needs.
  • This role requires strong stakeholder management, comfort with ambiguity, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. As a staff data scientist, you will uphold high technical standards, deliver consistently, and lead by example.
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in data science
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python (PySpark preferred)
  • Experience with large data sets and cloud-based data platforms
  • Experience partnering with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to design, train, test, and deploy ML models
  • Exposure to experimentation, A/B testing, or performance measurement frameworks
  • Ability to translate business problems into analytical approaches
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a cross-functional environment
  • Familiarity with sales processes and tools (e.g., Salesforce, quota and territory analytics)
  • Experience in retail media, advertising, or ad tech is a plus
Qualifications
  • MS (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field
  • Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, PySpark, Machine Learning Libraries, Big Data processing systems in cloud environment is expected.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product and technical teams
  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries and big data tools (e.g., Spark)
  • Sound knowledge of Ad tech and prior Retail Media working knowledge is a plus
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in an environment with rapid change

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
