About Scientific American
Founded in 1845, Scientific American is the oldest continuously published magazine in the United States, a title it has earned by translating the frontiers of science and technology for curious, general readers for nearly 180 years. Our pages have featured contributions from Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla, and work by more than 150 Nobel Prize winners has appeared in our issues over the years. Today we reach more than 20 million people worldwide across our print, digital, and international editions, continuing a mission that has outlasted the telegraph, the radio, and the internet alike. Join us in helping the next generation understand the world through science.

  • Generate commercial sales and new sales opportunities within all of the categories of business Scientific American operates (print, digital, content programs, sponsorships, events, and others)
  • Serve as lead account director for integrated programs and act as the key liaison to the client, working with an in-house and freelance team
  • Work with all project management and production teams to ensure the delivery of program obligations; work with clients to grow relationships and to renew business

What You'll Bring
  • The successful candidate will have a bachelors' degree
  • 6-8 years of relevant publishing/media management experience with a focus on sales, sponsorship development, content programs, client relationship-building, proposal crafting, budgeting, and strategy development, or relevant experience in these areas.
  • An interest in science, health, technology and innovation
  • Impeccable writing and communication skills; ability to create a "solutions-based" approach to client cultivations
  • Demonstrated success in achieving revenue goals and strategic business development
  • A growing network of contacts in the pharma/tech/innovation space both on the client and agency side

Why Join Us
You'll help shape new partnerships/relationships and business direction for one of the world's most trusted science media brands. This is a rare opportunity to build the next chapter of that legacy from a position of real strategic influence. We are a team of dedicated and hard-working people
