Job description

Company Description

KCPR is an award-winning boutique public relations and strategic communications agency specializing in venture capital firms and high-growth technology companies. Founded by Silicon Valley communications expert Kelsey Cullen, KCPR partners with some of the industryโ€™s most respected investors and startups to shape narratives, elevate thought leadership, and secure impactful media coverage.

Weโ€™re looking for a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Public Relations Assistant to join our team in San Francisco.

This is a unique hybrid role for someone interested in building a career in public relations while also supporting the day-to-day operations of a founder-led business. Youโ€™ll work closely with all team members and across client accounts, gaining hands-on experience in media relations, client strategy, events, awards, and agency operations.

PR Responsibilities

  • Assist across KCPR client accounts and ongoing PR campaigns
  • Maintain client PR trackers, media lists, and coverage reports
  • Track journalist moves, media opportunities, and relevant industry news
  • Research and draft media pitches and other PR materials
  • Maintain awards, speaking, conference, and events calendars
  • Research and submit clients for awards, events, speaking opportunities, and industry lists
  • Take detailed notes during client calls and draft recap/follow-up emails
  • Support media outreach, research, and special projects as needed

Executive + Personal Assistant Responsibilities

  • Manage scheduling, appointments, reservations, and calendar coordination
  • Help keep the office organized and stocked with snacks, beverages, and supplies
  • Handle returns, pickups, drop-offs, and occasional local errands
  • Assist with general organization and administrative projects
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Founder as needed

Who Weโ€™re Looking For

Youโ€™re organized, polished, resourceful, and comfortable jumping between different types of tasks. You take initiative, communicate professionally, and notice the details other people miss.

The ideal candidate:

  • College graduate
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Is comfortable working independently and taking initiative
  • Has strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Is interested in PR, media, venture capital, startups, and technology
  • Is comfortable with a role that combines professional PR responsibilities with executive/personal assistant support
  • Is based in San Francisco and available to work in-person

Compensation + Growth

  • $25โ€“$30/hour, depending on experience
  • Part-time, in-person position in San Francisco
  • Direct mentorship and hands-on experience
  • Opportunity for growth within KCPR for a high-performing candidate, including the potential to take on increased PR responsibilities and grow into a larger role with the agency over time
