Job description

As an Open-Source Media Analyst, you will be responsible to develop a shared understanding of the information environment by providing timely, accurate, and contextual analysis of traditional media, social media, and key audiences, and communicate insights to decision-makers.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop a shared understanding of the information environment by providing timely, accurate, and contextual analysis of traditional media, social media, and key audiences, and communicate insights to decision-makers.
  • Align media monitoring and analysis with internal and external command priorities and national messaging objectives.
  • Analyze opensource information and apply intelligence processes to identify, compile, assess, and disseminate allsource material.
  • Maintain situational awareness of the information environment to provide strategic counsel on priority topics at any time.
  • Deliver clear, confident briefings-both orally and in writing-to senior leaders. Identify, monitor, and analyze trends across social media, breaking news, media briefings, congressional hearings, and key speeches, and distribute products that convey these insights.
  • Develop creative approaches to ensure monitoring and analysis products reach and resonate with the right audiences.
  • Collaborate with command leaders and staff across subordinate and supporting organizations to identify communication risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct and oversee research to provide leaders with historical context and a broad understanding of the information environment.
  • Advise on the capabilities, limitations, and effectiveness of various media monitoring and analysis tools and products.
  • Train personnel in media monitoring methodologies, analytic techniques, and supporting technologies.
  • Thrive within an agile, adaptive, and challenging team environment, including during travel to austere locations.
  • Continuously monitor, integrate, and share relevant best practices and technologies emerging from industry and academia.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience delivering strategic media or intelligence monitoring and analysis for senior government or industry leaders.
  • 3 years of experience ingesting, analyzing, and summarizing large volumes of metadata, public data, social media, and other intelligence sources.
  • 3 years of experience using communication tools to prepare and present multimedia products to diverse audiences
  • Expertise in any of the Microsoft 365 applications

Nice to have

  • Must be able to flex and adapt working hours to meet the operational requirements of a dynamic command - mission-critical support is sometimes required during extended hours and on weekends and holidays
  • Ability to support command operations by working 12hour shifts during alerts for up to 90 days annually.
  • Experience utilizing AI to create agents with proper algorithm to monitor regional/global/traditional/social media
  • Understanding of the global security landscape, including emerging threats, asymmetric challenges, and special operations priorities.
  • Experience synthesizing highvolume, highvelocity information to deliver actionable, contextual reporting for decision-makers.
  • Experience using technology to automate monitoring tasks and develop production workflows for analysis dissemination.
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, government, history, journalism, communications, marketing, business administration, or a related field-or equivalent work experience.
