Job description

Audio DescriberOn-Site | Swing Shift (Monday - Friday, 3:30PM - 12:00AM)The Role

We are looking for a talented creative writer to create and edit audio description scripts for television programming and other video content. Additional duties will include reviewing and editing voiceover recordings, as well as mixing finished audio files. The purpose of our audio description service is to make visual content accessible to a blind or low-vision audience.

What You'll Do
  • Write clear, concise scripts describing on-screen visuals in language appropriate to the style and intended audience of the program
  • Develop and utilize efficient research methods
  • Follow in-house manual of style and project-specific style guides for specific instructions on individual scripts
  • Review and edit peers' scripts, providing creative and technical feedback
  • Review voiceover recordings of completed scripts, flagging necessary changes for the voiceover artists
  • Employ audio editing and mixing techniques to create finalized audio description files
  • Learn about the needs of the blind and low-vision community to better understand the perspectives of our audience
  • Complete projects within tight deadlines as needed (may occasionally involve interacting with clients)
  • Document progress of each job using in-house scheduling software
  • Perform other related and assigned duties
Who You AreMust-haves
  • Strong creative writing skills, including a keen ability to describe on-screen actions, settings, and characters
  • Ability to adapt to a unique writing style and edit other individuals' scripts
  • Strong, keen attention to detail
  • Follow detailed technical directions with the ability to learn various software programs
  • 2- or 4-year degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, TV/Film Production, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work swing shift (Mon-Fri onsite - 3:30PM - 12:00AM)
Nice-to-haves
