Looking for your next engineering opportunity? Join the World Mosquito Program (WMP) and help develop innovative technologies that support the fight against mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever.

We're seeking an early-career Mechatronics Engineer who is passionate about hands-on engineering and enjoys solving real-world problems.

Working alongside scientists and engineers, you'll contribute to early-stage engineering R&D by designing, building and testing electromechanical systems that move rapidly from concept to validated prototype.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, assembling and iterating mechanical, electronic and mechatronic prototypes
  • Creating CAD models, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation
  • Developing and executing laboratory and bench test plans, analysing data and documenting verification results
  • Supporting hardware design reviews and translating concepts into clear engineering specifications
  • Building automated test capability using scripting tools (e.g. Python) and developing embedded systems knowledge
  • Working safely within laboratory and biosecurity environments while maintaining rigorous documentation and traceability
  • Collaborating with internal researchers and supporting technical reviews of externally developed designs
We're looking for engineers with:
  • A degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical or a related engineering discipline
  • Approximately 2–4 years' engineering experience (including internships, placements or graduate projects)
  • Practical experience with CAD, electromechanical assembly, wiring, debugging and prototype development
  • Strong technical documentation and problem-solving skills
  • An interest in verification & validation, product development and engineering for regulated or safety-critical environments
