Minimum Qualifications
• Shall be qualified to teach in the field of study.
• Shall be effective in teaching the assigned subject material.
• Shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
• Shall be proficient in curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling.
• Shall have a minimum of an MS (or equivalent) degree or a Doctoral degree (preferred), in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a closely relevant field.
• Shall be authorized to work in the United States.
Job Duties and Other Information
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to program growth, excellence in teaching, service to students and the university, and continuous professional development through research and scholarly activities. The position requires active participation in accreditation processes and the ability to teach a range of lectures and laboratory courses in Industrial Engineering Technology. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the development of new academic programs, courses, and laboratories in areas such as lndustrial Systems, Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Design and Simulation, Data Analytics, and artificial intelligence applications in industry.
The successful candidate will be required to work with the Department Head of Engineering Technology, the Director of the School of STEM, and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Provost/Vice President to expand the program to meet the needs of industry through the industrial advisory committee. A successful applicant will be required to advise and counsel students, maintain prescribed office hours, and perform other duties as assigned by the college or university. The applicant will be expected to maintain collegial relationships with peers and colleagues throughout the university. Further, the applicant will be expected to participate in curriculum development, departmental and facility improvement programs, recruiting, grant writing, scholarly research, departmental and university committees, and official functions.
• Be committed to excellence in teaching, service, professional growth, and scholarship.
• Teaching all classes per semester as assigned by the Department Head in a manner that will promote academic excellence to the fullest extent. Submit course outlines and objectives. Utilize a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to pedagogy. Evaluate students and report progress. Participate in periodic reviews of course materials.
• Providing administrative support to university leadership in carrying out their responsibilities.
• Actively participating in official university functions as determined by the President, Vice President, Dean, Director, and Department Head (e.g., commencement, faculty institute, registration, recruitment events, and any called meetings).
• Maintain class schedules and the required 10 office hours per week as determined by the Department Head.
• Advising and counseling students during required office hours and at other times and settings established by the Department Head.
• Engaging in scholarly activities, including grant writing, research, publications, and presentations in the field of Engineering Technology.
• Involvement in departmental development, assisting in student recruitment, and participating in professional endeavors aligned with the department's mission.
• Participating in faculty meetings and serving on all appropriate program committees.
• Maintaining appropriate expertise and competencies through continued professional development and periodic mandatory training.
• Fostering collegial relationships with peers and colleagues throughout the University.
• Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy.
• Acknowledging and agreeing to comply with those mandates of the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana which regulates the activity and employment of state employees including but not limited to the "Code of Governmental Ethics", LA R.S. 42: 110 I et seq", and "Dual Office Holding and Dual Employment LA R.S. 42:61 et seq".
