Job description

Mechanical Engineer – Product Development

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a well-established, privately owned engineering and manufacturing company serving the upstream oil and gas industry. For decades, the company has built its reputation by designing and manufacturing engineered mechanical equipment that solves complex operational challenges in demanding environments.

Rather than producing commodity products, the company focuses on engineering-driven innovation, practical design, and long-term customer partnerships. Their products are known throughout the industry for their reliability, quality, and performance in challenging operating conditions.

Today, the company is entering an exciting period of growth, with significant investments being made in manufacturing capabilities, engineering resources, inventory, supply chain infrastructure, and new product development.

Engineering has always been one of the organization's greatest competitive advantages, and the company is looking for talented engineers who want to help shape the next generation of its products.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer whose primary focus will be product development, mechanical design, and engineering innovation. This is an opportunity to design and develop complex mechanical products from initial concept through engineering, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and field deployment. Whether your background is in oil and gas, hydraulic systems, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, mining equipment, or other industrial machinery, we're looking for engineers who enjoy solving difficult mechanical problems and developing products that perform in demanding real-world environments.

You'll work closely with engineering leadership, manufacturing, operations, and executive leadership to develop innovative products while helping drive the future direction of the company's product portfolio.

As a privately owned organization, the company offers engineers something increasingly difficult to find: direct access to leadership, meaningful influence over product development, and the opportunity to see your ideas become real products rather than getting lost inside layers of corporate bureaucracy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and improve complex mechanical products using CAD and 3D modeling software.
  • Develop new products while improving existing product designs for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and leadership throughout the product development process.
  • Create engineering drawings, design specifications, bills of material, and technical documentation.
  • Support prototype development, product testing, validation, and field evaluations.
  • Coordinate third-party testing and certification activities where required.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, field personnel, and customers.
  • Manage engineering projects to ensure quality, budget, and schedule objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, quality requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Continuously evaluate new technologies, materials, and design improvements that strengthen the company's competitive position.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Successful engineers are curious, practical problem-solvers who enjoy taking ownership of their work.

In this role, success means:

  • Developing innovative mechanical products that solve real customer challenges.
  • Taking products from concept through manufacturing and into the field.
  • Working collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and operations.
  • Contributing ideas that improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Becoming a trusted technical resource within the organization.
  • Helping shape the future direction of engineering and product development.

THE IDEAL BACKGROUND

We're interested in engineers who have designed products, not simply supported them.

Qualified candidates may come from industries such as:

  • Oil & Gas
  • Heavy Equipment
  • Agricultural Equipment
  • Construction Equipment
  • Mining Equipment
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Industrial Machinery
  • Mobile Equipment
  • Custom Machinery
  • Pressure-Containing Equipment
  • Other complex mechanical product design environments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required (Master's preferred).
  • Five or more years of mechanical product design experience, preferably within oil & gas, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, hydraulic systems, or similar industries.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
  • Experience designing mechanical products from concept through production.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, materials, tolerancing, and GD&T.
  • Experience working with mechanical assemblies, hydraulic systems, pressure-containing equipment, or heavy industrial products is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and operations.

WHY ENGINEERS ARE ATTRACTED TO THIS OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity offers a combination that's becoming increasingly difficult to find.

  • Financially strong, privately owned company with a long history of success.
  • Significant investment in engineering, manufacturing, and new product development.
  • Direct collaboration with experienced leadership and executive decision-makers.
  • Broad involvement throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Opportunity to design products—not simply maintain existing ones.
  • A technically challenging environment where engineering ideas are valued.
  • An entrepreneurial culture where innovation moves quickly and engineers make a visible impact.
  • Direct mentorship and collaboration with executive leadership.

If you're the type of engineer who enjoys building products, solving difficult mechanical problems, and seeing your work move from concept to production, this opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while working alongside an experienced leadership team.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Strong base salary offering.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Long-Term Disability available.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
