Job description

Essential Functions
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Physical Effort
This position is in the histology laboratory at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The candidate will prepare paraffin-embedded and frozen embedded tissue samples. The incumbent will also be responsible for routine histology staining, immunohistochemistry, and processing of tissue samples. Must also be able to maintain equipment and instruments used in the histology lab and everyday talks. This will involve frequent interactors with students, staff, and faculty members.
The candidate must have excellent organizational and detail skills to process samples with minimal error. Knowledge of anatomy, basic chemistry, and medical terminology is helpful. Previous experience performing histology work is preferred and compensation may be adjusted accordingly.
