SUMMARY:
This position generally plays the role of a Role Player, one of several roles of various indigenous people in a foreign culture. The mission is usually scheduled on a military base in a realistic village erected for the purpose of training U.S. military personnel to relate to the general populace of a foreign culture.
WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Part Time On Call - Mission Based
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Always adheres to military training standards including but not limited to:
    • Staying within assigned training lane
    • Remaining "in role" during training mission
    • Following required security rules for the assigned military base
    • Accurately portraying culture to U.S. military personnel
  • Participate in BFA weapons handling and operation training when required.
  • Perform in urban/mounted operations training and may be shot at using blank-firing weapons.
  • Role players may be required to "die in place" or to be captured after a simulated firefight.
  • Integrate into military scenarios using weapons, equipment, and various vehicles in a multitude of situations such as hostile forces, ambushes, sniper, friendly forces, police, host nation civilian, terrorist, etc.
  • Portrays an assigned role.
  • Stays in character, applies independent judgment within the scripted scenario or ad lib if directed. Utilizes creativity to make the situation real in a training environment.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Conforms to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Dress in costume appropriate to the role.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Communicates with co-workers, supervisors, military personnel, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to gain and maintain access to US military installations.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or commercial/government agency background and reference check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Role players shall be physically capable of performing their assigned work.
  • Ability to work for one or more days at a time at secured locations and work up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must have flexibility in scheduling work hours and available for occasional travel.
  • Must speak the required language and act in a manner consistent with the assigned role.
  • Fluent in English
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience as a Role Player preferred.
  • Experience in improvisational or semi-scripted acting preferred.
  • Specifically oriented on skills that help individuals and small unit leaders to perform their duties and maximize unit training effectiveness.
  • Play a major role in support of unit training execution and after-action review, the unit Chain of Command is ultimately responsible for conducting the training and any resulting assessment or evaluations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and respond realistically to actions of other role players, including U.S. military personnel.
  • Ability to provide accurate cultural knowledge of the region being duplicated in the mission.
  • Improvise convincing reactions to changing and unscripted U.S. military character and trainee movements within the training environment.
  • Experience in improvisational or semi-scripted acting preferred.
EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or GED
DRIVING REQUIREMENT:
  • If selected to be a driver for the company, in a company owned or rented vehicle then it will be required to obtain/maintain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy.
  • Selected drivers may be required to drive when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving.
  • The expected driving time up to 10%.
TRAVEL:
  • Travel is required under this contract, up to 10%, to the training site(s) at other government facilities.
COMPENSATION:
  • Pay is: $17.93 per hour.
  • SCA Health and Welfare Fringe: $4.41 per hour, up to 40 hours per work week as determined by the Wage Determination for the workplace locality.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Role players shall be physically capable of performing their assigned work.
  • Frequent bending, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking and/or standing, climbing stairs, and walking on uneven ground.
  • Occasionally sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk up to 2 miles over rough and uneven terrain in a tactical field environment.
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers, handling objects, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing.
  • Seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Wear uniforms and equipment to standards: role-play uniforms and individual military equipment (helmet, level 2 or 3 body armor, load bearing equipment, etc.).
  • Able to function in the following environmental factors: outside and inside; excessive heat; excessive cold; excessive humidity; excessive dampness or chilling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Our mission is to train US Marines; therefore, we work side by side with them in all climates and conditions.
  • Work is primarily performed in a maintenance facility as well as outdoors in military training areas.
    • Work is often performed outdoors, in tactical field conditions, including inclement weather such as high humidity, heat, cold, sleet, snow, high wind, rain, and various local conditions.
    • Field conditions are austere at times.
    • Environment may be subject to temperatures ranging from 10 (-) degrees F in the winter to 125 (+) degrees F in the summer.
  • Employee may be exposed to sharp objects, heat and cold, chemicals, and lead.
  • Training support exposure to high levels of noises and vibrations due to the use of military weapons and equipment.
  • Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations.
  • Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable.
  • Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
  • Video filming and/or still photographs by the military may take place during active training missions or while at rest for purposes of recruitment, training, and education.
  • This position involves inherent risks and conditions listed in this job description. You understand that you are responsible for following all safety protocols, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Shall comply with applicable installation, facility and area commander installation/facility access and local security policies.
