Job description

MAU is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our client in Hampton, GA. As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will perform repairs, preventive and predictive maintenance, and troubleshooting on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical devices to support equipment reliability, safety, quality, and plant efficiency. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information

  • Work a rotating shift schedule.
  • Work mandatory overtime as required.


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One-year certificate from a college or technical school.
  • Two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Pass the online Bennett Mechanical test.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.


Essential Functions

  • Respond to process and equipment issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and eliminate special cause variation while driving safety and quality and optimizing plant efficiency.
  • Adhere to all safety and housekeeping programs and policies to build and maintain a safe, accident-free work environment.
  • Utilize machines, equipment, and measuring instruments to perform precision alignment, predictive maintenance, balancing, welding, pipe fitting, equipment repair, and other required tasks.
  • Ensure the availability of required items and/or inventory.
  • Provide support and leadership to other craft and non-craft employees in the performance of maintenance tasks.
  • Plan and perform operational maintenance, including lubrication, on machinery and equipment associated with plant operations.
  • Assist with developmental and/or experimental projects.
  • Utilize computer expertise to complete records and reports and manage data, including work orders, inventory, failure and trend analysis sheets, checklists, requisitions, and audit sheets.
  • Utilize basic carpentry skills as needed for the position.
  • Utilize forklifts, cranes, and other related mobile equipment, obtaining a license where necessary.
  • Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures and do not perform electrical repairs or maintenance on equipment while energized.
  • Complete motor replacements and replace defective wiring or flexible conduit for the motor in question.
  • Identify through preventive maintenance routines the need to repair, replace, or adjust limit switch arms, proximity switches for position, pushbuttons, and related components.
  • Inspect, dismantle, repair, replace, install, clean, and assemble machinery, equipment, and buildings as necessary.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine, or piece of equipment.
  • Travel minimally for training and other purposes as determined by supervision.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work a rotating shift schedule and mandatory overtime as required.


Working Conditions

  • Occasionally work in wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
  • Travel minimally for training and other purposes as determined by supervision.


Physical Demands

  • Climb stairs.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.

  • Use hands or fingers to handle, feel, and/or reach.
