Matlab Simulink Mechanical Engineer information

What does a Matlab Simulink mechanical engineer do?

A Matlab Simulink Mechanical Engineer uses Matlab and Simulink software to design, simulate, and analyze mechanical systems and control algorithms. They create models that represent mechanical components and systems, run simulations to predict performance, and optimize designs before physical prototypes are built. This role is commonly found in industries like automotive, aerospace, and robotics, where modeling and simulation help reduce development time and costs. The engineer also collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the systems meet technical and safety requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Matlab Simulink mechanical engineer?

To thrive as a Matlab Simulink Mechanical Engineer, you need a solid grounding in mechanical engineering principles, system modeling, and simulation, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency with Matlab, Simulink, and related toolboxes, along with familiarity with control systems or automotive modeling standards such as ISO 26262, is highly valued. Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication skills help engineers collaborate on complex projects and convey technical concepts clearly. These skills ensure accurate modeling, efficient development processes, and successful integration of mechanical systems in multidisciplinary environments.

How does a Matlab Simulink mechanical engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project?

A Matlab Simulink Mechanical Engineer frequently works alongside electrical engineers, controls engineers, and software developers to design and simulate complex mechanical systems. Collaboration usually involves participating in design reviews, sharing simulation results to inform hardware decisions, and integrating models with other engineering domains. Effective communication and regular meetings are key, as these engineers translate mechanical requirements into simulation models that must align closely with the work of other team members. This collaborative environment not only ensures the accuracy of the overall system but also provides opportunities to learn from diverse engineering perspectives.

What is the difference between Matlab Simulink Mechanical Engineer vs Mechanical Design Engineer?

AspectMatlab Simulink Mechanical EngineerMechanical Design Engineer
Primary FocusModeling, simulation, and analysis of mechanical systems using Matlab SimulinkDesigning, developing, and testing mechanical components and systems
Required SkillsProficiency in Matlab/Simulink, mechanical engineering principles, system modelingCAD software, mechanical design, prototyping, and manufacturing knowledge
Work EnvironmentEngineering labs, simulation environments, software developmentDesign studios, manufacturing facilities, prototyping labs
Industry UsageAutomotive, aerospace, robotics, control systemsConsumer products, machinery, industrial equipment

Matlab Simulink Mechanical Engineers focus on system modeling and simulation, while Mechanical Design Engineers concentrate on creating physical mechanical components. Both roles require a strong foundation in mechanical engineering but differ in their core tasks and tools used.

Job description

No C2C / Only W2 / No Sponsorship
We are seeking a hands-on, cross-functional engineer to design, test, and analyze advanced beverage dispensing systems. This role focuses on developing pumps, valves, tubing, sensors, and control algorithms to deliver high-quality beverage experiences. You will work across disciplines to translate system requirements into robust, manufacturable designs while driving technical excellence through the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical and fluidic components using CADD (Creo) and create detailed engineering drawings.
  • Perform disciplined problem solving using DMAIC / 8D / A3 methodologies.
  • Conduct pressure-flow analysis, evaluate control valves, and assess pumping technologies.
  • Lead engineering change management using Windchill or similar PLM tools.
  • Analyze experimental data using statistical methods to drive design decisions.
  • Collaborate across software, mechanical, and electrical domains to ensure system integration.
  • Scope projects, define resource needs, and guide teams to achieve technical milestones.
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure design for manufacturing (DFM) and project alignment.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in complex electromechanical or fluidic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, statistics, and experimental data analysis.
  • Experience with stage-gate development processes and requirements cascading.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or C for algorithm development (preferred).
  • Experience with test system development, LabVIEW, PLCs, and schematic interpretation (preferred).
  • Background in fluidic circuit design, micro-pump testing, and failure analysis (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
