Job Description
The Director of Patient Care Services, Women's and Newborn Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Postpartum, and Post-Discharge/Follow-Up Services across the continuum of maternal and newborn care. Reporting to the Central Region Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this leader is accountable for the overall planning, organization, coordination, quality, and performance of multiple patient care departments.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director partners with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to advance organizational goals, improve patient outcomes, drive operational excellence, and enhance the patient and family experience. The Director ensures delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care while supporting regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and Magnet principles of nursing excellence.
This role provides leadership throughout the maternal-child care journey, from admission and delivery through neonatal care, postpartum recovery, discharge planning, and outpatient follow-up services. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives, optimizing resource utilization, fostering workforce engagement, and achieving financial, quality, and patient satisfaction goals.

- Provide executive oversight for Labor & Delivery, NICU, Postpartum, and Post-Discharge/Follow-Up Services.
- Lead strategic planning, program development, and operational improvement initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with medical staff, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional clinical quality and patient outcomes.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate quality metrics, patient experience measures, safety indicators, and clinical outcomes; develop and execute action plans to address opportunities for improvement.
- Support and sustain Magnet principles, evidence-based practice, shared governance, and professional nursing development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional practice standards.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, productivity targets, capital planning, and resource allocation.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing leaders and clinical staff.
- Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise-wide decision-making, organizational strategy, and leadership initiatives.
- Foster effective relationships with community partners and outpatient providers to strengthen care transitions and continuity of care for mothers and newborns.
- Drive initiatives focused on reducing variability in care, improving operational efficiencies, and enhancing patient and employee engagement.
