Position Overview
Manager of Materials develop, implement and maintain purchasing policies which ensure timely delivery of inventory at the most economical cost. Coordinates with purchasing, production and engineering to ensure adequate supply and efficient movement of materials. Provides for inventory control and forecast of anticipated material requirements for on time delivery of quality parts.
Areas of Focus
Manager of Materials ensures customer satisfaction by daily review of orders with shipping, planning and production supervisors to ensure on time delivery
Responsibilities
• Provide support, direction and training to employees in inventory methods and control
• Maintain with the use of MAPICS an accurate inventory base and statistical data through timely processing of transactions, cycle counting and physical inventories
• Review cycle counts and implement inventory control procedures to maintain accuracy
• Produce reports on customer deliveries, inventory accuracy and inventories to target; recommending inventory reductions and improvement
• Supervise four to seven employees
• Accountability
• Inventory levels and purchases to support customer requirements

• Credit or shipping holds
Basic Qualifications
• Associates degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field
• 5 + years' experience materials experience including supervision
• Knowledge of MRP, Production control and costing
• Experience in computerized inventories, production scheduling and purchasing
• Knowledge of computer systems and manufacturing software
• Effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance or related field
• Battery industry experience
