Job description

THE POSITION The Fire Services Technical Advisor position with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency offers an exciting chance to support fire and emergency service teams across the state. This role lets you guide important programs that strengthen recruitment, training, and community readiness. You will help departments build strong, effective systems that protect the public.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact on emergency response efforts. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position focuses on supporting fire and emergency service organizations through training, program development, and technical guidance. You will help strengthen recruitment and retention efforts while promoting safe and effective fire service operations statewide.

As a Fire Services Technical Advisor, you will perform the following duties: Program Support: Assist with creating and updating documents, reports, and manuals for recruitment and retention efforts Training Delivery: Develop and conduct specialized training programs and presentations for fire service personnel Public Education: Provide information to officials, responders, and the public about fire service programs and initiatives Data Management: Maintain program databases and recommend improvements to data collection methods Research Analysis: Gather data, evaluate programs, and prepare reports that support improvements to fire service operations Outreach Engagement: Attend meetings and represent the recruitment and retention program at events and conferences Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: FREE on-site parking Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of professional experience in planning, developing, coordinating, or promoting fire services, emergency management, or public safety programs; and a bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, or promotion of fire services, emergency management, or public safety programs.
