Position Summary
The Material Handler / Blaster will be responsible for preparing metals parts for powder coating by operating blasting equipment and ensuring the efficient loading and unloading carts for powder coaters. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions of the Job
  • Monitor production schedule to assess workload priorities for blasting, loading and unloading of carts.
  • Prepare material for powder coating, employing various methods including shot blasting and sanding while following quality control procedures for consistent surface preparation.
  • Using an overhead crane or a forklift, load and unload parts or product onto paint fixtures or carts to optimize coating efficiency and minimize damage. Mask or plug threaded holes or machined surfaces as required.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures while operating equipment, including wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities (KSA's)
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently or in a group with minimal daily supervision and meet expectations
  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language
  • Ability to wear PAPR equipment and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Proficiency in operating a floor-mounted man lift
  • Capable of working overtime and/or including weekends, as production schedules dictate

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience preferred
  • Licensed forklift operator or ability to become licensed

Working Conditions
  • Work area can vary from wet to dusty depending on the job function being performed
  • Must be able to work in an environment with noise at 75-decibels (25-decibels with earplugs)
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Able to perform work in a non-climate-controlled production environment
  • Must be able to be on your feet, on concrete, for 90% of shift
  • Must be able to lift, push and / or pull up to 50lbs and carry that weight 5ft
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and crouch
  • Able to work with arms elevated for periods up to 5 minutes at a time
