What are full time material handlers?

Full time material handlers are employees responsible for moving, organizing, and managing materials or products within warehouses, factories, or distribution centers. Their duties often include loading and unloading shipments, operating forklifts or other machinery, tracking inventory, and ensuring the safe and efficient flow of materials. Working full time means they usually work 35-40 hours per week, often on rotating shifts. This role is essential for maintaining smooth operations in supply chains and manufacturing environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Material Handler, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Material Handler, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, strong organizational skills, and the physical ability to lift and move materials safely. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), forklifts, and inventory scanning tools is commonly required, with OSHA forklift certification often preferred. Attention to detail, reliability, and effective teamwork are crucial soft skills for ensuring accurate order fulfillment and smooth workflow. These capabilities are essential to maintain safety, efficiency, and accuracy in fast-paced warehouse environments.

About SEEK Careers/Staffing

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

SEEK was founded in 1971 by Carol Ann Schneider, CPC, SPHR, a Grafton, Wisconsin resident. The name SEEK was derived from a combination of initials in Carol’s family. It was a tradition that names derived in such a way would bring success to that person or business. So, from Carol’s home, SEEK assignment employees were sent to serve the temporary needs of Ozaukee County business people. The business grew and was eventually incorporated in 1975. The Grafton office expanded from Carol’s home to several other buildings in town before finally settling in their current location on Opportunity Drive in Grafton in 1997. Currently, there are 19 total branch offices with 16 located throughout Wisconsin and a recent acquisition has expanded SEEK’s portfolio to 3 branch offices in the Twin Cities.
