Job description

In recent years, Double Good has seen 40% year over year growth, and we're excited about our future! We're excited about the possibility of you joining our mission. We are looking for a Material Handler Supervisor to join our growing team.

Location - Onsite at our Burr Ridge production facility

About the role:

The Material Handler Supervisor will lead and assist a team of forklift drivers that receive and store materials, organize warehouse storage, replenish the kitchen, packaging, and shipping lines, and support inventory control processes. This position will also be responsible for creating training programs and process flows for the forklift drivers at Burr Ridge and for advocating forklift safety.

The Material Handler Supervisor is responsible for safely operating stand up forklifts to transport, load, and unload materials within warehouses, production areas, or shipping docks. Their duties include inventory management, ensuring materials are properly stored, supporting production by delivering materials to workstations, and adhering to safety protocols. They are responsible for creating, maintaining and executing process and safety programs at Burr Ridge. They need to be certified, physically capable of lifting heavy loads, and skilled in managing inventory systems to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities: 

  • Accurately verify materials against purchase orders and receiving standards. Record them in the ERP system, repalletize, and store items in designated areas.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to manage supplier returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items and coordinate pickup.
  • Coordinate variety of freight deliveries and transfers between supplier and internal warehouse. 
  • Conduct and manage material cycle counts on a day to day basis and lead the yearly cycle count process
  • Maintain proper storage conditions for all materials and ensure compliance with FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Perform forklift training, ensure certification is up to date, and maintain certification documentation.
  • Assist in replenishing materials to workstations as needed to support continuous production flow.
  • Accurately complete paperwork for receiving, shipping, and inventory transactions using ERP systems or other computer software.
  • Conduct daily inspections of forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance needs.
  • Manage,  lead, and train  a team of material handlers across multiple shifts.
  • Work closely with warehouse staff, production workers, supervisors, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate any issues or delays that may impact production or shipping schedules.

Experience & Skills we value:

  • Proven experience operating various types of forklifts, such as sit-down and stand-up (reach trucks), in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with inventory systems, organizing stock, and maintaining FIFO (First In, First Out) protocols to manage perishable goods.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or inventory tracking software for logging shipments and materials.
  • The ability to lift heavy materials (usually up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in various weather or environmental conditions (e.g., cold storage).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production staff, warehouse teams, and supervisors to ensure the timely delivery of materials.

Certifications:

  • OSHA forklift certification
  • Additional certifications, such as food safety handling, depending on the environment.

Nice to have and/or you'll learn: 

  • Previous experience  working in food-safe environments with strict cleanliness and contamination protocols.
  • Experience working as part of a team to support continuous operations in a busy food manufacturing facility.

Base Pay range for this position:

  • $50,000 - $72,000 annually
  • Target Annual Bonus: 15% of base salary

The final discretionary compensation that will be offered for this role depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.

Work Authorization Requirement:

This position requires current authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship, including support for F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT), STEM OPT extensions, or other temporary work authorization programs.
