Job description

Salary Range: $109,853-$184,613

The Manager of Labor Engineering and Systems is a high-impact, dual-responsibility role. You will lead the national implementation of warehouse performance management (WPM) tool across our warehouse network and, upon completion, serve as the permanent architect and administrator of the platform. This role owns the entire lifecycle of labor productivity—from engineering the initial labor standards to the long-term maintenance of data integrity across multiple WMS platforms and diverse client contracts (Dedicated and Multi-Customer).

  • End-to-End Implementation Management: On behalf of Operations team, lead the full-cycle deployment of Labor management system across new and/or existing facilities, including project administration, conditions for success assessments, contribute to training, support WPM technical configuration, and performance management culture change leadership.
  • Labor Standard Development & Validation: Utilize Industrial Engineering methodologies to conduct time studies and data analysis to establish, validate, and regularly audit data driven labor standards for all warehouse activities.
  • Systems Integration & Data Normalization: Support the technical data mapping between various Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), time & attendance software, and the WPM. Map disparate data exports into a unified reporting structure to ensure "apples-to-apples" productivity metrics across the network.
  • Permanent System Administration: Serve as the national administrator for the WPM, managing system governance, user hierarchies, and configuration updates to reflect changing operational needs.

  • Operational Governance & Audit: Conduct recurring audits of established sites to ensure data integrity, identify "standard drift," and confirm that site leadership is utilizing the system to drive labor efficiency.

  • Multi-Client Logic Architecture: Design and maintain complex labor models that account for the unique requirements of dedicated-client facilities versus multi-customer environments where labor is shared.

  • Change Management & Training: Develop and deliver training programs for General Managers and Supervisors, translating complex engineering data into actionable operational insights and a performance-based culture.

  • Continuous Improvement Leadership: Analyze long-term productivity trends to identify inefficiencies and partner with operational leadership to implement Lean or engineering-driven process improvements.

Candidate Profile & Key Competencies

Category

The "Must-Have" Profile

Key Competencies & Evidence

Technical Core

The WPM Data Architect

Data Integrity: Ability to identify essential WMS and time/attendance transactions for export to the labor management system, ensuring key data attributes are accurately mapped to provide real-time visibility of both direct and indirect labor hours.

Logic Building: Expert at creating "if/then" labor logic for complex multi-customer sites.

Engineering

The Standard Bearer

Standard Allowed Minutes (SAMs): Deep mastery of best method analysis, performing time studies, and manipulating time and motion models (MOST).

Audit Discipline: The "maintenance" mindset to revisit standards as methods changes, warehouse layouts get modified, or client volumes change.

Project Management

The Rollout Specialist

Phased Deployment: Proven experience in managing large scale projects involving labor optimization and performance management culture change (UPH to earned time).

Vendor Liaison: Ability to speak "code" to software vendors and "warehouse" to the operations team.  Ongoing steady-state could include contract renewals, SLAs negotiation, enhancement requests, or escalations with Easy Metrics (or future WPM platforms).

Soft Skills

The Change Agent

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to influence site leadership and present complex engineering ROI to executive stakeholders.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel as needed to support recurring implementations and site audits across the national network.

Preferred Requirements

  • Software Specifics: Direct experience with Easy Metrics is highly preferred; secondary preference for Tier-1 WPM implementations such as Manhattan Labor Management, BlueYonder (JDA), or TZA ProTrack.
  • WMS Ecosystem Knowledge: Prior experience mapping data from multiple Tier-1 and Tier-2 systems (e.g., Manhattan, BlueYonder, SAP EWM, or HighJump/Korber).
  • Advanced Analytics & Visualization: Proficiency in PowerBI or Tableau to create executive-level "cost-to-serve" dashboards that go beyond the native WPM reporting.

  • Sustained Concentration: Ability to maintain focus during long periods of data auditing and technical configuration.
  • Situational Awareness: High level of alertness to warehouse safety protocols and automated equipment (forklifts, conveyors) while conducting floor-level studies.
  • Resilience & Influence: The mental fortitude to defend objective engineering standards in the face of pushback from operational leadership or site associates.

Working Conditions

  • Travel Requirement: Up to 50% travel is required. This includes national travel to regional warehouse sites for initial implementations, recurring audits, and troubleshooting.
  • Hybrid Work Environment: A mix of professional office/remote work (for deep data analysis and configuration) and high-activity warehouse floor environments.
  • Variable Hours: Occasional need to support "Go-Live" events or audits across multiple shifts (including 2nd and 3rd shifts) to ensure standards are consistent across all operating hours.
  • Autonomy: As a labor utilization SME and advanced used of the system, the candidate must be comfortable working independently on-site withlocal support.
  • Team Leader/Supervision – responsible for national WPM governance across a large warehouse network, this role could include managing 1–5 direct reports (e.g., analysts, engineers, or regional IE support).
