Overview
The Admissions Counselor provides administrative support, project management, and coordination of admissions functions primarily related to the Daytime and Accelerated Daytime MBA (AMBA) programs, and reports to the Associate Director of Admissions. This position works closely with admissions officers to support their efforts in counseling prospects and applicants, executing outreach and yield strategies, assisting with in-person and virtual events, and leveraging data to inform initiatives. The Admissions Counselor also supports the broader Admissions team as needed.
This position is based in Durham, NC, and is primarily an in-person, on-campus role. Following six months of successful employment, the Admissions Counselor will be eligible to work remotely one day per week, in alignment with office policies and program needs.
What you will do.
Responsibilities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, applicants, admitted students, and alumni, delivering a high level of customer service.
• Support the Daytime and Accelerated MBA (AMBA) teams in executing admissions processes and operational priorities.
• Support on-campus events, including Market Focused Programming and Admitted Student Weekends.
• Manage the admissions inbox, serving as the primary point of contact for general inquiries and ensuring timely responses or escalation to Admissions Advisors as needed.
• Coordinate outreach between prospective students and student clubs, facilitating meaningful connections with current students and the broader Fuqua community.
• Serve as Officer of the Day, welcoming visitors and prospective students; lead information sessions and Q&A during official campus visit programs.
• Oversee the monthly office coverage schedule for Daytime and AMBA programs, ensuring appropriate counselor staffing levels at all times.
• Evaluate applications for the Daytime and Accelerated MBA programs as a member of the Admissions Committee, including presenting candidate assessments for committee review.
• Review transcripts to assess eligibility for the Accelerated MBA program.
• Conduct admissions interviews as needed.
• Host virtual office hours for applicants, admitted students, and waitlisted candidates, providing guidance and answering questions about the Fuqua experience.
• Lead and support virtual engagement efforts, including serving as the primary presenter for information sessions, managing event logistics (scheduling, registration tracking, and Zoom coordination), assisting with event delivery, and ensuring accurate post-event data tracking.
• Execute admissions social media efforts on Instagram in partnership with the Associate Director of Admissions, who leads strategy; this role focuses on day-to-day content posting, coordination, and engagement, including collaboration with current students.
• Attend regional admissions events, representing Fuqua in key markets.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00.
