Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team in the Baytown area preferably in Family Law. The ideal candidate will provide vital support to attorneys by preparing legal documents, conducting research, managing case files, and handling administrative tasks. This role requires strong communication skills, discretion, and a proactive mindset.

Job Description

  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, subpoenas, and correspondence
  • Organize and maintain legal files, both physical and electronic
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for case preparation
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate court dates and deadlines
  • Liaise with clients, courts, and other legal professionals
  • Prepare and submit legal forms and documents to courts and government agencies
  • Assist attorneys during trials or hearings by taking notes, organizing exhibits, and handling logistics
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
  • Perform general administrative duties such as answering phones, managing email correspondence, and billing support

Requirements

  • You do not have to have to have a degree, but if you do it's a plus! Such as an Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent experience in legal studies or a related field or pursuing degree
  • 1+ ย years of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role (or as specified)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, documentation, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

There may be some overtime required which could include weekends at times.

Hourly Rate: $20/hr.
